Now I feel like I'm going to be bored all day like any other job.

Congrats OP. The next milestone in life is retirement I guess. And then we die.
you made it OP
what are you going to do with your money?
Very cool gif. Thanks for sharing.
been in one for 3 years, its all right i guess.
no pussy yet tough.
>no pussy yet tough.
That's a plus
More plans than the money would accommodate kek
Nicer apartment, Mazda Rx8, turbocharge that shit, and build a gaming computer.
Don't. Keep your same lifestyle, save your money. Max out your 401k match, max out your Roth IRA 5500 yearly contribution, save the rest. You can always move up your luxuries in your life, but you can't really move down
Congrats though, enjoy getting paid to write software. It's a job, but it's a fun job
Renesis rotaries are dogshit but even if that weren't true, why would you ever choose the aesthetic of an 8 over a 7?
Quite possibly the most beautifully designed car in human history, and you want its uglier and shittier brother?
Hiwd you manage that? Please teach me your ways.
I wanna know your story too. Im self teaching my self programming with the intention to free lance but wouldnt be apposed to landing a cushy job somewhere.
What kind of games do you work on? I might do video game development as a hobby.
>got into programming at 13
>started small business at 15
>immediately flopped, but entrepreneurship looks sexy on resume
>spent a year working for hosting organization as a hobby
>developing plugins and utilities for them
>company merges
>handle the server transfers (windows to linux)
>get sexy Sr. Management title
>apply for company requiring niche programmer with experience with a niche scripting language
Honestly got kinda lucky tho. Spent a lot of time building my resume even without making money.
I actually like how the rx8 looks, and interior design matters a lot to me. Worse comes to worse I swap/turbo it
I'm at the very least getting the car and appartment. Need to be in a nicer area, and need a reliable car I like. I'll make the money for it to pay cash in just a couple months.
ouch my dreams
Their main focus is FPS and RPG, kinda like League-esque games
>with a niche scripting language
Which one? Just curious.
>got into programming this year (23)
I fucked up.
Never too late. May take time, I've found experience > degree so far
One of their avenues is modded source, so SourcePawn was a requirement.
Jeez
23 is way too late to learn programming. Don't waste your time, user.
You can always become a janitor
Christ it stings, how do you even open a business at 15?
for fucking real
How old are you now?
18.
jac off
22 year old computer science first year here.
kill me now.
>18
the pain.
20
>major university in area
>sponsoring entrepreneurship program
>2 kids from 48 schools across the country representing their school
>have to design product, business model
>present to like 100 investors
>mfw everyone else made shit like "an app that turns car off if you're drunk"
>mfw I designed a self-charging wireless mouse
It flopped because after the initial investors, I was too much of an idiot to give them a business model that wouldn't be deemed useless by wired computer mice. Looking back on it I regret not pushing harder to get it done.
This is not me
You're fine. I started at 24, 29 now, up to 100,000/yr in DC.
The bar has been shockingly low so far - I really don't understand the stories on Jow Forums about people who can't find work.
i'm graduating at 25, fella.
I get really depressed and unmotivated, and thus have like zero personal projects. But it seems like you have to have personal projects to even think about getting a tech job
am i fucked
Between like 16-19 I spent those years designing a 3D game engine in Java, so I have a decent portfolio. Custom font engine, graphics pipeline, etc. etc. to avoid copyrights.
Never did get to sell it, but I did gain a lot of experience in abstract programming from it.
> its easy to get a job bro just design a 3d game engine and then you can be a junior programmer
This is bait.
I guess looking back I had a lot of failed pursuits :|
Where tf did I say it was easy? Cause it fucking wasn't.
So i'm fucked
Computers were my main interest when i was real young, it was the only thing i was good at. And now hearing that i'm not even that good makes me feel lost in the world
Yo. If you're not confident that you can make this shit work on your own, go the fuck to school.
Nah, a little effort a day goes a long way. I want working on the engine 12 hours a day towards the end. Maybe 4 hours a week.
My story shouldn't discourage you. My business flopped. The engine never reached a point where I could sell a finished product. I just built a portfolio and volunteered at places as a developer to build a resume.
I am in school
Good.
Now get an internship asap.
I got no ideas, and when i do, it's either too little time, or i straight up forget how to do anything
>I'm at the very least getting the car and appartment. Need to be in a nicer area, and need a reliable car I like. I'll make the money for it to pay cash in just a couple months.
This was the biggest pain for me when I got my first developer job. It was an hour and a half away from my apartment when I started, and my car broke down on the way there the first day. Not too long after that, I was borrowing a friend's car that she had just replaced, and it broke down. First three paychecks went directly into getting another car and moving closer.
Now I still do the same shit I did during college in my free time and the money just keeps piling up. I don't even know what to do with it.
dont worry about it. I know people who started in their late thirties and early forties and are full time devs now.
Anons im fucking scared, I thought shit was gonna play out real fuckin smooth but i can barely figure out what next step i need to take. I can already see my future in the shitter and its making me FUCKING PANIC
Where u at user?
What do you mean?
>haven't started programming (32)
No user, I fucked up.
Must be nice to have money pile up. I'm working remote so I'm not moving/getting the car for the job, I just need to be in a nicer area in general with a reliable car because who doesnt want a car they can rely on.
I have the car and apartment to buy, and about 5 grand in medical debt I need to pay off. THEN the money will start getting put back and piling up.
Oh, and a lot of toxic old friends I cut off in this town are spreading rumors and saying I'm going nowhere. It'll be a nice big "fuck you" to move to a nice area with a nice car while they're still talking shit working their minimum wage jobs.
stupidest shit i ever read on this website
based rx7 bro
I cant spend my money on nice things? Itll take maybe a couple months to get all of those and have money getting put back.
they wont even know that you left dude.
theyll think you lost your job and car ol.
mazda rx8 are not reliable cars.
based
Fair, but as long as it has a new engine or I rip it apart and replace the seals it'll last me a long ass time. Grew up working on cars.
They'll know I left when I leave. I just want to get away from them in general anyway, they are not good people.
Yea user. You are fucked. Because you've done nothing but give excuses and complain. Instead of going out and actually doing it while figuring out how to avoid your minor problems or at least asking for help on how to avoid them
If it's really important to you, you will figure something out and make it happen. To some people short-term reward, such as entertainment, is more important than long-term reward as wealth. Everyone /wants/ money, but they clearly want short-term rewards more. Otherwise they'd do something about it.
