Depends on your use case and what you learned growing up. People who say C is the best language is likely not trying to perform any type of data analysis/database work. The 'alienness' of Lisp is massively overstated. You can straight up use all the imperative and OOP techniques from whatever your other favorite language is in Lisp, without bothering with functional do-whackery anymore than you care for. It's exactly this flexibility that makes it good, and the level of intelligence required for basic meta-programming in it is way lower than what you need to understand how to properly work with something like C++ templates.

Lisp really should have remained the go-to AI language at least, as its symbolic processing makes adding stuff like differentiation a breeze.
