IRC easily could have managed to create a method to join channels via magnet links. Fuck the entire Discord setup could easily be replicated if someone joined the IRC protocol with the murmur protocol and wrote a client similar to the braindead setup with Discord. The easy to join links are 90% of the reason Discord took off and magnet links could easily replicate that issue.
