What's Perl again?

What's wrong with it?

Uncle Junior?

perl is still used frequently though

Jow Forums are just a bunch of old ladies with the latest hardware under their arms, crying the blues cause they don't have Linux.

A+

"Maintaining a 50-year-old code base that managers are too afraid to replace" doesn't count as "using Perl" as it's commonly understood.

ynr firefox being good

I never learned perl but I took a peek at perl 6 and it looks like a cool language. Too bad it's so slow.

Nearly all our web stuff is done in mojolicious. I love it.

I have a folder on my PC for Perl scripts I wrote and want to keep.

I don't know what they do, even one I wrote a week ago.

Am I alzheimers?

Perl was the second language I taught myself. I get feeling of comfy nostalgia everytime I'm reminded of it :3

>Am I alzheimers?
No, you just wrote perl scripts.

Made by that gcc Larry.c -Wall ?

Call me when Perl6 is better than JavaScript.

I use it everyday at work, unfortunately, as APIs. They are being replaced by python equivalents probably next year.

afaik it is still used in some EDA software, but that's a boomer industry anyway

That's a pretty low bar you've set. Even MS Powerpoint is better than JavaScript.

modern JavaScript (Node, Typescript, ES6+) is one of the best languages ever, fuck you

So what should I learn instead now that Perl is dead?

Ruby is comfy. Scheme is big braned. Python earns money. JavaScript is everywhere.

PowerShell. Why not Microsoft Linenoise for a change?
