Why do they sell laptops with only 32gb storage?

Why do they sell laptops with only 32gb storage?

What type of scam is that?

if you're just using it for writing, 32GB is more than enough. if you collect trap porn, it isn't.

I wish they sold them with no storage. I'm just formatting and replacing it anyways.

The main points of failure I've experienced in laptops over the years have been the RAM, the disk, and the battery. These machines are now coming with solder disks and RAM and a glued in battery that's nearly impossible to replace. May of the batteries in the cheapest machines are soldered as well. So this just planned obsolescence. The low storage capacity makes them worthless for running any software at all, and having them ship with Shitblows 10 makes it 100x worse.

Just stop buying shitty netbooks. They're never worth it. You're better off with a used business laptop.

>Why do they sell laptops with only 32gb storage?

Why would a facebook machine need more than 32 gb?

welcome to Jow Forums

Well, no. I have seen these a lot, they are usually cheaply made and basically disposable. All of them come with Windows 10, meaning Windows will take up 95 percent of the eMMC Drive. I have seen some cases where the computer just flat out runs out of space and can not update, which is something normies should do, and not have any space for storing files. So, yes, they are a scam.

Don't you DARE store your files locally, goym!

Bought one for 200 dollar and installed Linux on it.
Runs great, just delete windows

What brand laptop is this? Sounds like some Chinese shit.

Most of them are made by HP, but i'm sure Dell makes them as well.

>hp

are you fucking kidding me?

hp is shit tier

literally.

first post and best post

>Shitblows 10

made me guffaw

Laptops are for faggots

HP has become shit tier only recently. Up until 4-5 years ago HP laptops were top tier.

t. writing this from a 10 year old HP laptop

>why do they make a product that I don't want, but other people want?

This. There are people in the world whose computer needs boil down to
>email
>web browsing
>occasionally writing a letter or updating a budget

For them, 32GB is more than enough

Is it a SSD? just buy one with a HDD instead.

Windows 10 will use over 32GB after a few updates.

OS is taking up around 16GB, which leaves about 16 GB for Office, a few browsers, and whatever documents. I think those 32GB laptops are fine products for normies, kids, or people who just don't really need to use a computer for anything but the basics.

I went to hp's website, sorted by price low to high, chose the cheapest laptop, and then went to customize storage. The cheapest option is a 1tb HDD. The smallest SSD is a 512gb. You must be choosing some Chinese knockoff brand that isn't hp.

Most of their products are shit. Their elitebook line is pretty decent though, using an 8 year old one right now, was engineered very nicely. However idk if the elitebooks are still as good as they used to be.

This exactly.

I got one a those. It has ms office, cygwin to ssh into stuff, a few games from gog.com, 8h battery and costed pennies. Works fine for week-end trips when I don't want to bring anything expensive with me.

Nah bruh, HP consumer laptops were always as bad as it gets. I remember ATI chips in them could desolder just because, and it was around 2011-12. A rule of thumb was to never buy entry HP laptops because they overheat while costing more than Chinese nonames. Nevertheless, I post from the Zbook G1, and it is a solid laptop.

this is the strangest thread

This nigger is probably talking about a Chromebook.

>Using shit bloated software.

Sure, blame storage space for the inadequacies of your preferences.

Where do you save your files?

He is probably talking about shit like the HP Stream

If you aren't using windows

It's actually more than enough for daily use. Bonus points if that's SSD (and it probably is).

those laptops are thin clients

Why so much confusion? When I went in the store there were a lot of them. Cheapest at 140 dollar, up to 250 or something. I have an Acer but I think I also saw HP and Asus.
They don't necessarily suck, it depends what you want to do with it. Just get rid of windows it uses too much space to update.
I have Linux with xfce running and it's great. I use it to hold presentations at my University, and program while traveling or in Uni. Worth every penny. Battery lasts an eternity as well.

Also fucking this. I bet some businesses buy those in bulk.

8yo HP craptop here, but my parent's 9yo HP craptop has a fucked keyboard and I had to replace the WD blue that came with it .
Elitebooks are supposed to be infallible though.

That was one of his worst films

Come to Latin America, we sell notebooks with 4GB of ram and 2TB hardisks of 5400rpm
