I want these Missions.

What are the best subwoofers out there? 2k usd max (or better to have 2 of them?)

Finally covered my bookshelf absorbers. Not satisfied with the fabric job and they look massive next to my towers. What should I play first?

Nice! I will do the same on thursday.

> need those
> have the drivers

Better to have 2 subs, unless you can't freely move both around.

Were these the panels with side cutouts?

These horrible cuts yes

I will buy two of these(Ikea Finnby) 180x60x24cm, fill them with 140kg/m^3 rockwool and then place them behind my speakers.

Mine were ikea gersby. Looks the same minus color

Same dimensions, and Gersby was even cheaper :D $20 for a Gersby here in Sweden, amazing.

Neat

Try putting them behind the speakers. Or build another pair and put them there.

Currently have pic related Sony speakers I picked up at a thrift store for 3 dollars. Should I upgrade?

Attached: 20180922_172614.jpg (4032x3024, 3.76M)

All in good time. Building a front stage to raise them first them actual bass traps in the corners

They should be more effective in the corners behind the speakers. Try placing the front inside edge of each speaker 1/3 of the way into the room.

*straddling the corner.
Recall that particle velocity decreases as you move closer to the boundary. Pressure traps are more appropriate, if less simple.
As is, it looks more like a first sidewall reflection absorber.

yeah ive been playing them for a while. cant seem to reach max level.. its all about the nostalgia. but the game does have a better pace for a boomer like me if you know what i mean *sips*

the sweet sound of never silence again

What kind of bass traps are you going to build?

Floor to ceiling high triangle cuts of Safe'n'Sound. I'm guessing it will be about 9-12" deep from the corner out and wrapped in fabric

Are you sure you want this shit in your living area? Its fucking nasty and penetrates every fabric i know.

Didn't Safe'n'Sound have a quite low density? Higher the density, the more effective it is at absorbing the low frequencies.
Something I've been thinking about is to cover the absorbent with foil to make it a membrane absorbent, that could in theory make it work on even lower frequencies.

Specs according to their website

>Actual Density - 2.5 lb/ft3 (40 kg/m3)
More dense is generally better yes but once you go past a certain point it starts reflecting higher frequencies off of it oddly enough

You make me long for the sweet embrace of death.

so just found out Hyper X cloud headphones are actually made/designed by beyerdynamic with cheap speaker in them.

I think the cheaper hyperX headphones aren't made by them but the Cloud Alphas might be from same factory thou the aluminium on them bends so they might have outsourced the newer models to cheaper factory.

basically this hardcore sweedish quake guy had this company called Qpad and he got beyerdynamic to make him a headset in 2009 and then in 2013 or some thing hyper X paid to have the new model rebranded to hyper X cloud.

not sure how speaker size compatablity works maybe its simple or maybe they make some sort of DRM into the speaker size you might be able to find a broken pare of small beyerdynamic's and put the speakers into clouds.

so which speakers rival kef ls50 in impulse response?

Why are you targeting the LS50?

because it had the cleanest fastest transient response i've ever heard yet when listening to bassy stuff. i'd like to stay below 900€s

do you need a special dac to output DSD audio or can you just play it on any sound device and it will come out properly?

asking because I was using Audiogate by Korg to convert super high quality PCM audio to DSD on the fly in 2013 or some thing and I think I could notice the differences.

was using a old soundblaster card with KX opensource driver if it matters.

Curious why you recommend behind rather than at a first reflection point

What are some good speakers for my pc that will play music really well at really high volumes? Also, do I need a DAC?

>really high volumes
why do you do that to yourself

So would you say audioengine A5's would be good?

whats the best extremely cheap old stereo amplifier?

The one you find at a garage sale/thrift store for under $10 that still works.

man nun of you actually know any thing technical about audio you just recommend speakers you think look good and once where super expensive like 10years ago and you can still get "new old stock" of on amazon..

this thread always sucks.

4/10 bait, I'm sure you're going to hook someone.

yah have fun indulging in the latest meme products you bought solely by hype from corporate shills and affiliate spammers ha ha ha !!!

Panels are more effective across corners and those look like some huge bass traps already.

Just got pair of Realistic Minimus 10 speakers for about 10$, are they any good?
imo they sound suprisingly good for that type of box

My guess it is to fight backwall cancellations? And those have a lot of material in them so they will work as some bass traps as well

you need to break em up a bit visually with a pattern or an image. you can use loose-weave burlap coffee sacks for a nice effect, or just get some loudspeaker fabric printed up.

NAD, kenwood, marantz

This is going to be a movie room when fully finished can't say I'm too concerned about it other than personal reasons

I didn't intend to make them as bass traps only very effective absorbers for first reflection points. True corner bass traps will be a future project but I can see why you say that

>backwall cancellations
Do you mean the actual wall behind the listener or back behind the speaker? Yet another plan is to build a back wall diffuser but I still need to determine how big I should make it, if I should use multiple types, and probably get a table saw or similar equipment rather than hand tools

Behind speaker

I'm not sure I understand how this works than

Just bought these insignia bookshelf speakers from best buy for 80 dollars open box special. apparently the person couldn't find and use the remote in the box because the remote was still in its packaging.

Need help or advice:
going build speaker (2x) 70w each
I saw the FE166 from fostex anyone made a back loaded horn already ?
other brand would be nice only if they include recommendation for speaker.

>bluetooth
>/ag/
:^)

I think they are upside down...

>going build speaker (2x) 70w each
this means nothing without the sensitivity of the driver/cabinet

>I saw the FE166 from fostex anyone made a back loaded horn already ?
look on diyaudio.com full range forum

>other brand would be nice only if they include recommendation for speaker.
mark audio, tang band, visaton, dayton

ADAM T7V or KRK RP6 G3
Any thoughts?

Do you understand how backwall cancellation works? If you do then you just need to realise that placing "perfect absorber" which will absorb everything is the same as having infinite space behind speaker and removing all cancellations. Your absorber is not petfect but still will work and weaken them. How much it will weaken depends on cancellation wavelength and on absorber

>Do you understand how backwall cancellation works?
Behind the speakers is the front wall.

North = Front wall (speakers placed here front baffle facing south)
West/East = Side walls
South = Back wall

>Let me correct myself (kind of but still would like room size) by saying, every area you treat is helping to solve different problems. So pick what problem you want to work on first

>Bass - Go for the front corners to start
>SBIR - Go for the front wall (bass traps in front corners will help with this)
>Early reflections - Go for the side walls, ceiling and (if you are in a smaller room) go for the back wall.

>Any of those areas are going to have noticeable problems. What will be the best place to start can only be determined by which one is the biggest problem. heh

thoughts on the Marantz SR4500? Looking to get one second hand as a first receiver.

I use an SR5200 and it's excellent. Little old, so no HDMI and best you're going to get is DTS. Excellent for it's straight 5.1 analog in for PCs, and as an amp/dac it's very good.

Thanks for the reply! My plan is to hook it up to my pc and primarily use it as an amp.

Is $100 a decent deal you think?

T7V showed pretty good performance in Sound & Recording measurements, RP5 G3 has shit power response in THX measurements

soundandrecording.de/equipment/adam-audio-t7v-studiomonitor-im-test/
thxstandard.com/#!/speakers/powered-studio-monitors/krk-rokit-5-g3-30/

$100 is decent. Use the analog outs from your PC for excellent surround. Best way to get surround out a PC honestly.

Is it a bad idea to buy a dac to connect to my active monitors? Also should i use XLR or TRS for the connection?

Why would that be a bad idea? What active monitors do you have? TRS is fine.

>RP5
rp6 is the other one, not 5, class difference kinda

but thanks anyway

Because i don't know shit about audio and i thought it might be a bad idea. Also because my plan wouldn't be to connect the dac to a computer (which i think is the common thing people do) but to a TV through optical or to my phone (if that's even possible)
I have the studiophile BX5 from m-audio (and yes i'm the same guy that has been asking stupid questions in the previous threads)

i own t5v which just sound a little bit smaller.

overall you shouldn't get them for music listening, the ribbon tweeters will earrape you and let's you eaaaaasily distinguis bitrate quality

>for music listening
for production

>mfw nyquist-shannon sampling theorem

Thoughts on pro-ject's audio equipment? Anything good or recommended?

Just fixed and adapted a McIntosh car amp for my PC audio setup.

Yeah like we're going to listen to some moron who can't even spell a three letter word correctly.

I have a project debut carbon esprit sb. Seems like a solid table to me

How do you have them hooked up right now?

How do I get into some basic level audio?
Like DACs, Amps, etc.

I'm just working with a pair of ath-m50x's.

I just bought massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-o2-amplifier

and Topping D10 DAC on AliExpress.

You might want to buy another pair of headphones first. Amps and Dacs don't affect the sound nearly as much as the headphones themselves. But it's a neat hobby.
