How hard would it be to port this to power9 or riscv?

d-does it have nvidia drivers

>no features

The idea of course would be to add a hypervisor like xen and do what qubes os is doing... until the software is there

More like 5,999 lines of bloat
install gentoo

>Linux
Um, no, sweaty

Why when BSD exists?

Write a driver shim and yes, it does.

>6,000 lines of code (minus the window environment).
You got it wrong. That's just the kernel. And it's a MICRO-kernel. Absolutely no drivers are included in that. Not even the keyboard or the text console drivers. The only thing the kernel does is scheduling and routing (maybe).

It's probably so lightweight that you won't notice the lack of graphical drivers. And if you do get the fastest single threaded Intel CPU in the market and there you go.

>So efficient that Intel used it for intel ME
Wow. What an endorsement.

It runs on a secondary CPU that they have to bundle with the shittiest atom and celeron CPUs and not lose competitive edge against ARM.
Good enough for glow in the darks, good enough for you.

Or just buy an intel cpu and you get minix inside it out of the box, of course you can't use it, it's meant to use you

how would you turn this into a proper desktop os?
fork it and do your own thing?
be based on it like ubuntu with debian?

Is there a tutorial on how to rise minix with that DE?

>how would you turn this into a proper desktop os?
Drivers and a Linux compatibility layer, the community can do everything else from there.

Minix would be mainstream today if linus didnt ruin everything with his commie nigger OS.

>port this to power9

For
what
purpose?

Are you proposing someone pay thousands of dollars for a p9 series rack just to run minux?

Probably not, it took a decade for Tanenbaum to realize he was wrong on his assumption that microkernels would be everywhere because they are better reliability wise, turns out he was the chosen one to pioneer microkernels further, but didn't realize that until 2005.

It depends what you mean by "proper desktop os".

I mean, when I was writing hundreds of pages at college this with vim would have been a "proper desktop os" because I can then format a document with t/g/roff.

maybe op meant PowerPC?

Minix3 can already run NetBSD userland.

MINIX3 uses BSD

>install gentoo

how does it feel to have a CoC buried deep inside your community?

where do I get a Moonix VM image?

>Please note that on x86, MINIX3 does not support USB at all
Do you need PS/2 to use keyboard and mouse?

What toolkit and WM is pic related running? Does it come like that by default?
