VR High Thread

The first time I used a VR headset, I played video games on it for about 5 hours. Than when I came out of it I felt strange. I felt like I was high, like weed high. In VR, your hands are controlled by these handheld remotes, than in the game you see you fake hands. When I got out of VR, my hands didn't feel real. In VR, you can go through anything because it isn't real, so in real life, i had a feeling that I could shove my hand and head through anything. "

anyone have similar experiences?

other people have apparently had the same thing

The first time I spend 7 hours in it (my controllers were dead). I didn't even sleep that night and the next day everything felt strange. Plus it felt weird to grab things and everything looked fake. I nearly spend every day playing 5 to 7 hours of vr for a week and by that point I could see my room boundaries when I closed my eyes.

I still fucking love vr
I own a rift, Vive, playstation vr and a Lenovo wmr.
I can't wait for me wireless expansion comes because I have stopped playing vr just to play it wirelessly

I even emptied a entire room just for vr

I've had nightmares where i have a VR headset on, but i cant take it off and i know im in a simulation, but then i take it off, and then i realize im actually dreaming and then i wake up.

Why not mount your vive break out box in the center of the ceiling and put the cable on a kind of headphone spiral spring thing.

I'm going to try and fall to sleep inside VR one day.

Because I was expecting the Vive wireless kit to come out soon so I didn't want to put to much effort into it

I have been planning to do that for weeks but I am to afraid that I will either break it or that it overheats when it gets under the covers. I do however want to try it when I get my hands on the oculus go

Have a nightmare where i have a VR Headset on but cannot remove it, and i freak out because im trapped in a simulation, but then i take it off, and then realize i was actually having a nightmare and i wake up from sleeping, but im actually in VR for real and then i remove the VR headset.

I need to experience this.

Kek, my next step would be get fucking blasted on weed and fall to sleep inside it, and then do psychadelics whilst in VR.

I want to write a program that closes steam vr when I fall asleep but first simulates nightfall. And then I the morning starts up again with a sunrise to prevent overheating and screenburn

I am a good Christian boy who doesn't do drugs....

Nah I am from the Netherlands and my friends and I have a monthly vr party were we get high and play vr porn games and other shit

Ahh, im the sleeping / knightmares in VR dude in this thread, i want a HTC Vive pro. Just have a standard Vive

Feel like i need a RTX 2080ti tho for a pro and just dont have the money to upgrade to a better cpu and gpu and headset right now.

Well i do i just dont want to spend an ungodly amount when i'm waiting for headsets to have 4k screens at least.

Seems like a 4kper eye headset solution would be possible by 2020 and they could run it via dual graphics card, one for each eye.

It will get better and cheaper in the future.
Don't you worry

I have a fucked vestibular system and i dont really get VR sickness at all, its real weird. I only get it if do fighter jet flips and shit or go on those janky as fuck fun fair rides in VR chat.

Have yet to get really high in VR or VR Drunk. VR Porn is weird, some of it is real good, but the screen door resolution and shit perspective in some productions really spoils it and makes it garbage.

CZECH VR is the best VR porn ive seen. Being a cybernaut is real odd.

I just want the first proper VR MMO. Elite dangerous has potential but meh the VR social aspect is lacking.

Yeah i just feel like we are all serious early adopters and nothing in this niche scene atm is future proof, i cant see any of this hardware being the standard in 2020, which is why im reluctant to upgrade.

>Nah I am from the Netherlands and my friends and I have a monthly vr party were we get high and play vr porn games and other shit

Fuck, i should do that with my buddies. Dont really have a mobile VR Rig tho.

I do love being an early adopter. Prople always want to come over to see my new shit
I was early with bitcoin, early with 3d printing and other such things
It is one of the reasons why I still have contact with people in real life

Anybody upgraded to a HTC Vive Pro?

Is it worth doing? i put a few hours in fallout 4 and Skyrim, but the lack of resolution in the standard Vive just fucking blows.

I did the thin face gasket thing for the extra FOV and its not half bad, but the SDE just kills my enjoyment long term. I hate that you cant read text in VR cockpits at a useable level or that you cant fucking shoot arrows more than 30ft away because its a blury mess.

I get frustrated because i see (irony) the potential of this technology but fucking 1200x1080 pixels per eye just isnt enough. I feel like the 4k 3840 x 2160 pixels with the FOV of the HTC Vive without the gasket would be baseline for being a good VR Standard to really start being imersed in other worlds.

I dont think the wands are that bad, just wish they had more buttons and sticks instead of those haptic pads.

You can change everything in deo player. You can make everything look good even the worst studios like javr.

I think good is relative, i will look into that, but czechVR 4k and 5k footage is the best vr porn, the picture clarity is there, its just marred by the SDE of the standard vive and performance, which isnt bad, its just not as good as i would like.

Im not really interested in upgrading to a vive pro just to watch a few vr porn videos.

I want to be able to hang out in VR chat like space bars in games like elite dangerous, then hire a crew and take my ship out into the black, or become a crew member for somebody else and feel like im in another world.

Or play in a fantasy mmo as a crew and go out hunting dragons and giants and shit, then go and fucking goof off in a tavern in VR by throwing mead jugs at npcs and other players and laughing as some tard is humping the npc bar wench with his avatar.

Fuck man, it feels like we are so close to that being possible. Maybe 2 or 3 years.

I can't wait for the actual narrative driven tripleA games valve is making.
Those games might become system sellers but definitely knuckle controller sellers

I can see the potential and it makes me so excited, anybody who has played a few hours of rec room, or vr chat, or games like onward can see whats possible.

I cant fucking imagine how good pubg would be in VR with the controls of onward, if the headsets resolution was up to snuff, it would be fucking terrifying.

and thats just games, it brings a whole new realm of shit like virtual workspaces, using virtual machines with virtual multi monitors...shit could come in handy for people who dont have the space for a huge multi display coding workstation or say a crypto/stocks tracking setup, virtual social spaces are a crazy concept.

Its so damn frustrating that it isnt quite there yet IMO. Its so close.

I just dont see how 90% of office jobs cant be virtual within a generation. I dont see how VR just doesnt kill 95% of schools and colleges.

How is that comfortable? VR headsets seem really heavy. I'd like to use one for long periods of time but that seems really uncomfortable.

we use them at my job (wallmart)
if you dont know how you are behind the times

Took me about a week to get over vr dissociation. The first few days were pretty unpleasant, but it got better after a while.

There were some games I didn't have this issue with because I wasn't so focused on myself meaning my hands and body. I was just going with the motion of what was being done in front of me. Although there were a few games where I focused a lot on my hands in-game and coming out of vr it was making me trippy i figured maybe it was because I was sick at the time. But games like beat saber or project cars 2 I had no affects after hours of playing.

When I played guitar hero as a kid it made the walls look like they were moving, I'm sure it's the same for DDR. It's because you're staring at something else.

You'll get over it.

Had ~3-5 hours (really not sure) to use a friend's Rift. Played some H3VR and a lot of Super Hot.

I distinctly remember feeling the disconnect when I took the headset off at the end and went to grab my water bottle, and whatever part of my brain manages picking things up decided 'put your hand in it and squeeze your middle finger' was a good strategy. My arm was about half way there before the rest of my brain caught up.

Couldn't stop thinking about it for days. Such an awesome experience.

Jokes on you, Mr. Anderson.

Just open your curtains.

Keep waiting. VR is dead. The meme is true. We'll all have to wait another 20 years for the next craze.

Also I got a used rift this week. The ebay seller said it worked and they have no reputation. It came in good condition but there was no video out of the HMD. Tried lots of shit, contacted oculus, they asked for the receipt, I told them I wasn't the original buyer, they said to ask the original buyer for it so I did, and the original buyer sent me the receipt. p interesting series of events. I've been ZUCC'd and figured I'd have to return it but they might play ball and replace a secondhand unit.

It's normal and fades over time as well as occurs less over time.

It's your eyes trying to adjust for the 3D that isn't there, something about the muscles in them.

Try pushing the cord into the headset it comes loose even if it looks hardwired

I used to get that feeling as well. It went away after a few days. I played everyday back then. Picked the game up after a few years and it came back, just not as strong as the first time.

>I still fucking love vr
Chill kid. It's not even real vr.

>Holding the bar
Somebodies not surviving the clone wars.

I nearly fucked my vision doing cross-eyed freeviewing. I think I stared at pictures for too long and when I was done I couldn't fix my eyes on anything! It was a terrifying experience, but it all came back to normal in a matter of minutes. I had a harder time than usual focusing after that.

>not taking your shot at lucid dreaming

so the only reason you have interactions is because people came to get free bitcoin, 3d prints and use your VR?

>I just dont see how 90% of office jobs cant be virtual within a generation. I dont see how VR just doesnt kill 95% of schools and colleges.

>expecting companies to buy VR headsets for workers
>expecting workers to exist when AI exists

what games are even fun to play
I just play beat saber for about 30 minutes 3 times a week and nothing else

gorn
