I've always wondered about Apple's obsession with the colour white..

It's in my downloads folder

Because black on white is the best for your eyes and is the easiest to read. Newspapers are god tier print in that regard. Black on white 96 dpi.

black on white is only good for your eyes in print. if anybody gave a shit about what was best for your eyes on computers it would be amber on black with bitmap fonts. truetype fonts and light backgrounds look good, but they've been proven to cause greater vision damage than dark backgrounds and aliased fonts.

Is Haiku as comfy to use as it looks?

i really wish i was lain :( sorry for lack of rice

i never saw a point in over ricing stuff. but it would be nice i guess, i just find it gets in the way of work

>he's using a web browser to view images
what the fuck man

It does. Functional rices never look as good as /comfy/ rices, which to me only look and feel good in screenshots, but in practice it's not comfy at all because it's more difficult to do basic tasks. See and

If your screen is a high enough resolution it looks like print. Also just get a blue light filter user, it's built into most desktops now.

i always have it open anyways so there is no downside

You should use an image viewer to view images. If this were reddit I would have downvoted you.

yes and no
if your hardware supports it then its (almost) just as usable as linux but not nearly as stable yet

beta is coming out soon

Post bigger milkers

>Written in C++

why though? web browser is 100% comfy

You're lying to yourself man. Image viewers are 100% more comfy

it's not so much about looking like print or not so much as bombarding your eyes with an ungodly amount of highly concentrated photons over an extended period of time. bitmap fonts have sharp jagged edges which your eyes can pick up on easily, that means they have to "jitter" less to take in the text (eyes become incredibly spastic when looking at large number of rounded shapes), resulting in less eye strain. dark backgrounds reduce the total amount of photons being crammed into your pupils at close range, also reducing the amount of strain. the difference between print and screens is that screens produce photons whereas print simply reflects them. the original kindle solved these problems but it didn't catch on, unfortunately.

What is so special about haiku?

i'm open to new experiences. could you recommend a good one? Ideally I would like one that supports scroll to zoom, hotkey to zoom, left and right keys to go between images, i guess that's all.

Can someone reupload the oneechan script that was in the last thread? The pastebin is deleted.

>is this how you white text?

For proper zooming and being able to flip through images in the folder. A web browser lacks the basic functionality of a simple image viewer unless you write some webapp for it.

unironically xv

da fuk

i think you're full of shit because that explanation makes no sense. a book in the sunlight or even a bright room hits you with way more photons than a display. I think that discredits the other stuff too.

Just use the default one on Ubuntu desu

hachikuji

>is this how you white text?
No. Also, it's black texting on superior light themes (you can also just call it plain texting)
>he doesn't know how to plain text

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-09-24 at 1.26.00 AM.png (2880x1800, 719K)

This. What he said doesn't make sense at all. You can call these people dark themers. They're similar to flat earthers but with themes instead of earth.

Attached: Untitled.png (1920x1080, 2.9M)

Yeah, I forgot I was being autism and using the Tomorrow theme.
I also don't have a numpad so I'm not used to the hidden characters required; I just thought it was some archaic spacing trick.

I'm not using any hidden characters. It's all just normal text.

fuck me then

Attached: desktop4.webm (1920x1080, 2.26M)

yeah that works pretty good... wish it had a more subtle top bar though, i need to learn to rice

Should I reveal my secret?

is there a list of what hardware it will support?
how heavy it is? seems like the perfect OS to revitalize computers that can barely handle anything else

no, you try it and hopefully you're lucky.

well then that's still bullshit because that's what I tried to do
>user is artistic part 4

Okay user you're goofing on me now. It's two or more spaces (pressing the spacebar twice or more)

Don't worry fren, you will learn someday.
You will get there eventually.

what said. We all started somewhere. You'll find your way (hopefully you don't get lost in the shit ricing which is often found on these threads a lot). Just use something that looks nice, is functional, and most importantly, what you like.

this thread sucks

There isn't a list of hardware that it /will/ support, but there is a list of hardware that is supported at the moment. Shouldn't be hard to find on the site. I have a core2duo and 6gb of ram and it works fine on my computer. Only things that are slow is the browser (none of the ones in the repo's are any good at the moment, even qutebrowser is slow) and video. If you boot into a black screen then hold shift after rebooting to use the failsafe driver, and if it still doesn't work then just wait for someone to write drivers for what you have. Or qemu it and write them yourself.

as far as I know minimem specs are like pentium (one?) and 512mb of ram, but I'd imagine that wouldn't be very fun to use.
I'm currently working on learning their porter program so I can port haskell librarys and such from linux to haiku. I believe others are already porting rust and ruby, and python and go are already in the repos.

fuckin' nice

But it pulls drivers from BSD, right? Considering that my PC worked perfectly with OpenBSD, I shouldn't have many difficulties, right? I'm just going to wait for the Beta to come out and try it out.
Nothing is particularly good on this PC, but I hope this at least helps it a little

Aeon Flux still disgusts me

I thought amber on black was for old tube monitors and doesn't apply as effectively on modern LCDs?

they seriously need to make a religion where it's catholism but instead of saints its anime girls

Attached: .gif (1920x1080, 389K)

Who would fill your pantheon of saints. Give me six, and why.

would really need to think about it and carefully pic the best anime girls for these different archetypes; but it's definitely a project worth undertaking

a cute anime girl has purity, innocence, and beauty but is missing some elements
but then a magical girl has power, justice, magnificience, or awe inspiring or something too; so basically worship illya as a god

if dis aint hardcore ntr i aint watchin it

you guys are gone
post more unheard distros

Champloo is very chill. Nujabes.

You mean i3bar? You can prevent it from starting by commenting out or removing this in your config.
# Start i3bar to display a workspace bar (plus the system information i3status
# finds out, if available)
