get some thin 3m tape and put it around the edges then put the bezel back on and it can pressure it enough to remove most backlight bleed

my $350 VA panel doesn't have this problem ;)

yikes

Why would I use my monitor with the lights off?

you are literally cuck

>32''
>1920x1080

I had to replace a brilliant VA label like that with an IPS cos it died. Backlight bleed all over the place but there were no VA options at the time.

>>curved
it's neat
>>gayming
the actual product design looks tame compared to others so I ignored that label

user, replicating vantablack on a screen doesnt exist yet...
and ips are good for colors, not lack of thereof...

>play vidya on IPS
>looks amazing
>beautiful vivid colours
>fully enjoy the virtual world that was crafted for my immersion and is powered by my high-performance PC that cost a shitload of money to build

vs

>play vidya on GoySync GAYMER 869HZ $2,699 monitor
>everything looks washed out and dreary
>but bro it's so smooth and responsive for my "COMPETITIVE SHOOTERS"

Ask yourself this user, would you rather have a stunningly beautiful, curvy wife? Or some butterface slenderman with no ass but it's ok cuz she can run really fast?

I've used both IPS and high refresh displays and high Hz has never amounted to any measurable advantage/result over other players while competitive gaming that I can notice. Even the difference between a "1ms" and 5ms display seems questionable to me. So I just go with IPS now since it looks so much better than everything else.

>buys an expensive meme with a bottom-of-the-barrel panel

meanwhile my €300 LG 4k IPS monitor just werks

Yeah, looks "amazing" I'm sure.

all niggers, fuck you and suck my benis.

where the fuck do you find a decent crt screen nowadays

Feels goodman

The CRT boomer have arrived

they don't exist here

>Even the difference between a "1ms" and 5ms display seems questionable to me.
Quite frankly if you cant tell the difference between 1ms and 5ms you have crappy reaction time.

We all have a reaction time of 150-250ms, how the hell are we capable of telling the difference between 1-5ms?

I can easily tell it just doesn't matter. Even the average top level player has a reaction time measured in the hundreds of milliseconds. That 2-4ms response isn't going to make a difference.

Pixel response and input lag aren't the same thing, you dumb fucking zoomers.

at least i dont have light bleed

>getting a panel with a shitty weak bezel
lol. i'll grab a pic of my IPS panel tonight, guarantee it doesn't have this much bleed and it was only 350$.

Here's your CRT bro, that'll be $29.99.

Becase with my lamp on, ~5-10% is the the sweet spot.

More like 2048x1536 at 85Hz. Stay jelly LCDfags.

You tell me.

Atelier Iris 3

Excuse me sir, but I think this panel is defective. None of my other 3 IPS panels have ever had any noticeable backlight bleed.

What advantage does IPS even have over VA nowerday?

Its colors are more accurate? Only matters if you do professional photoshop.
IPS was p.much the one of the biggest meme for PCs for the longest time.

I only have IPS because I do professional video editing, and oftentimes need to color grade footage.

If you were doing pro video editing you'd use an OLED monitor.

Yeah nah fuck that

If he is a professional it doesn't mean that he is not retarded.

my $90 benq va doesn't have this problem.
:^)

Certain AMVA panels have good colors.
But they are very hard to come across.

this shit is only caused by bends, a cheap one without bends won't have it

where are the direct led backlight ips?

can't wait for buyer's remorse.

I want a 4K VA monitor but they don't exists under 31-32 inches. Kill me.

how is that an issue?

1080p starts looking like shit past 26 inches since you start seeing the pixels and maybe even subpixels. Think 3DS screen but several times bigger.

Sony's production grade OLED monitors are the cream of the crop. They're like 20k a piece.

But seriously even a normal oled TV will be better. They're all 10-bit.
>6-bit + FTC
Toplel

Do yourself a favor and get a hdmi 2.1 equipped oled TV next year. Even if you're poor you have time to save up enough for the 55" unless you're completely destitute and wheelchair bound

>name one (1) lcd that does 320x240 natively
Screen of old Sony Ericsson dumbphones

This is a good example of how 3ds screen looks

>you'd use an OLED monitor
And get "eternally visible" toolbars in his applications?

The "scanline" effect on 3DS was intentional because turning the 3D display on also cut the screen vertically. Together they result in a mosaic effect where pixels are separated both horizontally and vertically.
OLED monitors used in production are dedicated to displaying the video. All the UI and controls are shown on a separate LCD monitor.

Fun fact: 32" is the sweet spot for 4K monitors.
It's wrong to consider only screen size and resolution, in fact you should also consider viewing distance and your eye's resolution capability.

I've made a pastebin regarding this:
pastebin.com/5ZZHggvw

For typical desktop PC use viewing distance is definitely too short for 1080p at 26 inches. My laptop has a 12 inch 1080p display and during normal use I can't see individual pixels unless it's a white dot on a black background.

Exaclty. You use IPS professionaly, that's okay. For consumers it's BS. VA is best all-around panel.

>don't buy a BMW because it needs better maintenance
Just because some owners don't take care of their cars doesnt mean it's a bad car

I don't think the backlight looks entirely consistent here either

What's the best width for 1440p?
32" seems to be okay?

It's better than any IPShit panel.

Some parts around edges look whiter some more red
What brightness is that?

Not my pic, just pointing out facts.

yeah definitely, sucks that it's 2018 and there's still serious compromises with every mainstream display tech

>crt is dead except for /vr/
>oled burns faster than a house in california's forests
>microled in development hell

False equivalence fallacy

>crt is dead except for /vr/

CRT is still dead even on /vr/
What you see there is Sony Trinitron craze promoted by the youtube community.

TFW my 7 year old LG IPS236 doesn't have this problem. Sure it has blacks shifting to violet when i'm looking at it on strange angle but no bleed.

Attached: 1529271122220.gif (270x188, 1.78M)

What I meant was that the only reason to use for CRTs is old games.

I just want to buy a new monitor that I can play thief: the dark project on without gray florescent haze everywhere

Wait for micro LED or buy an OLED TV. If money isn't a concern feel free to drop 5 grand on a 25" Sony PVMA OLED monitor.

MVA is shit for desktop use. Being too close causes an unpleasant stereoptic effect. There is no alternative to IPS.

It's so fucking upsetting that manufacturers apparently decided IPS glow isn't something anybody cares about and so decided not to make any displays with A-TW polarizers. We're finally starting to see full array local dimming creeping into desktop monitors to help with black levels, but without addressing IPS glow what's the fucking point?

Or they could just sandwich 2 IPS panels together. 1000 * 1000 = 1,000,000:1 CR.

1) define "too close"
2) source on that?

Monitor viewing distance.

>source on that?

What panel technology are you currently viewing?

There's an Eizo that does that
Too bad it costs a million fucking dollars

>What panel technology are you currently viewing?
A ten years old TN. I'm asking because I wanted to get a new monitor.

image search for grey tones on the net, then turn your head 90 degrees. You'll notice each eye gets a different tone. This still occurs in MVA to a lesser degree because from the eye's perspective, MVA is basically four TN panels on top of each other, imperfectly canceling out viewing angle effects.

And to add, this gamma shift occurs horizontally with MVA, so for stereoptic effects it is worse than TN, which has to be turned on its side for the effect to occur.

Still waiting for cheap whatever-LED panels.
