throw it in the trash where it belongs
8 years old machines are useless in the ever forward moving modern world

>accidentally bought
what

>ever forward moving modern world
16:9 is a bad joke that went too far
that's going backwards

yeah booiiiii enterprise refurbished SFFs are hella good value, still more powerful than the most expensive laptops

fuck all you can do with it, more modern (9020 or similar) still be worthwhile as surf/office/daily driver, 790's too old, and upgrading those SFF, low-rated power supplies, no room for full size cards, etc, fuggedit. Solid machines tho, just, fucking useless now.

install malware.
sell.

Accidentally won a bid in Yahoo Auction. Since it's cheap enough, I bought it instead cancelling it
Fuck yeah. Except I wanted the Optiplex 7010 with i5-3570. Instead I got 390 with i5-2400. Doesn't even have a usb 3.0 port
I actually planning to put 1050 LP just for giggles

aw, I just got a Lenovo SFF with an i5-4430S, it's sick

>Mediacenter
>Retro-gaymin box
>Backup Storage
>Winshit compatible backupsystem

Wouldn't the CD just fall off when the drive is mounted like that?

pfsense is the only right answer.
Or a linux box that does the same job if you have the time for it.

middle of disc sort of clips in. just werks.

>Retro-gaymin box
Ew.

>>just accidentally bought one of this
How can Americans be so bad with their finances to a point where they accidentally spend their money on stuff they clearly don't need?

>Yahoo Auction
Are you a jap?

buy an r9 270x on ebay for 50 bucks and play csgo

real world MPC is 90%+ :^)

ah nvm ignore this i just thought "huh wh are those usb ports so huge" and then i realized that its a sff
yeah youre fucked op sff is useless garbage

up your rectum it goes

quake 3 CPMA lanbox

Install SSD, 16GB of RAM, PCIe USB 3.0 controller, and call it a day

use it as a server or something

install haiku

Make it work the fields and pick cotton.

I use an old Xeon E5450 and can still play games, check on YT if you don't believe old hardware is bad.
I plan to buy a Apple Mac Pro 2,1 with dual CPU socket, 2x4 cores and 32gB of RAM and will be able to run any games for dirt cheap

I would put the largest HDD it can take and make it a "Linux" server for backups

Why bid on something you don't want?

>1 HDD
>server
Nigger, what?

My SFFbro
Nah, just living in nipland
1050 ti can fit easily
I was searching cheap used pc and then accidentally bid on this particular pc, forgotting to look at the specs and all. I just let it happened think I was going to lose anyway. Turns out I won for real.
It's not exactly a lose since It's cheap and I wanted a used pc on the first place anyway, so yeah

turn into a linux server they work great.

>Nah, just living in nipland
Great... Another sexpat english teacher

Did you just assume my job shitlord?

>Nah, just living in nipland
dude where is you PC98 then?

Wow what a retard you are.
Why didn't you go for 7050 with the HDMI and DP ports?

Aw fuck that's the next plan then
I wanted 7010 bro, but my idiocy took over my decision

I actually don't know too much about the series aside what I do at work. I just know the 7050 Micros are a godsend since I don't have to tote any heavy shit anymore. We're slowly converting all the of the non-heavy-computing departments over to them.
Heck, they might even be on dual-booting Chrome devices in the future depending on the way things go.
Upgrade it.

Did you have to grind that part of the case off? Fucking lel

case looks pretty cool but you can get more powerful pcs in a smaller form factor.

for shame Jow Forums

Make it a pfsense router

install a low profile 1050 and have an awesome little gaming rig

>pfsense
What's that?

Install Jow Forumsentoo

Stick it up your arse, it tickles.

Is it possible to get Windows keys off of these things? Lost my key in a HD crash; I was a dumbass and didn't write it down.

Old machines are perfectly usable for this.

reminder that you can get a refurbished business workstation with an i5-6500 for 200 bongs

HP Prodesks, for people who thought Dells were shit. Confess, haven't actually seen HPs SFF, but the larger Prodesks are definitely godawful cheap shit. Dell SFFs are usually reasonable quality, actually.

fpwp

this
however, just buy the Fujitsu equivalent

Reading this jew's reply gave me AIDS

FuShitsu aren't on par with Jewlet - Packard

I got a 7010 with a i5-3550, added an SSD and 16G of rams. Loving the form factor.

I'm sure you can get the Dell and Lenovo equivalents for similar prices

>fujitsu
literally who

Turn it into a home automation box. Set up an adapter to control lighting and have wireless cameras tied to it. Idk just spit balling

see and

Slap a 4 TB hard drive in that puppy, pack it full of movies and TV shows, and make it into a personal media server.

OP here, thanks for all of the suggestions.

>E5450
Mah nigga, same here, you don't even need a socket 771 if you use the sticker trick and put it on a 775.
The only thing I upgrade more or less frequently is my GPU.
I am thinking of upgrading, but this pc lasted a long time, the xeon upgrade was like 20 bucks.

>I plan to buy a Apple Mac Pro 2,1 with dual CPU socket, 2x4 cores and 32gB o...

What the fuck is wrong with you? kill yourself

I use a hp t610 thin client with an SSD and 8 gigs of memory as my desktop computer. I cannot play hd videos from browser (I have to download them), otherwise it works perfectly.

Server.

>8 years is old

see if templeos runs bare metal, it has a fair chance

A few months ago I got a mini-tower 790 for $25 with 12GB RAM in it, i5 2400, and a shit ATI card that was probably older than the computer. Trash the ATI card, add GT1030, 600W PSU, 250GB SSD and it's a half decent portable gayman computer. It's hard now to not find a HDTV wherever you go, so bring a KB and mouse. And it had a W7Pro COA stuck to it too.

It's got a lot of empty space inside, so that smolboi ought to be just fine for the same.

Attached: optiplex-1531575053596.jpg (388x379, 17K)

You are that kind of retard who always buy next gen parts of PC because you are shitty to configure your PC fucking retard get out

return it to IT, trayvon

i have this machine
>gtx750ti
>i5-2400
>16 GB ram
>SSD

it's great

So I bought some more RAM too for my 790 mini-tower. It's at 24GB now, I think 32GB is max. And it looks good and is easy to open too. Really, who would think a six-year-old PC could be so usable? I know that $25 was a steal price, the CPU alone sells for $75 as a separate part.

The main thing I worry about is when W7 goes unsupported in a year and a half or so. I'll probably just get a bigger SSD and put Linux on it. What is it with 2011-2012 stuff? Even my 17" MacBook Pro is still comfy and repairable, I just have to keep looking for extra power supplies.

Based

I saw someone taking an HP 8200 sff to the dump today, obviously something isn't working right, but I took it home to see if I could salvage the HDD, RAM, and CPU.

But it turns out that it works perfectly, it even has a decent 80gb Intel SSD in it.

Why the fuck do normalfags throw away perfectly working computers instead of selling them?

Attached: 1515425786290.gif (460x337, 2.51M)

I mean you could just put W10 on it just fine

windows comes preinstalled

Because they install too much shit on them, slow them down to a crawl, and get sold on all-in-ones, mac books, and tablets before they have a chance to realize they already have a perfectly good computer at home.

>W10

>I actually planning to put 1050 LP just for giggles
These run 1050TI's just fine.

But the lack of USB3 on the 990/790 hurts.

USB3 can be had on a PCI card. That's less of a problem on the mini-tower version when you'll have enough slots.

Attached: sabrent-CP-4PTU-Main.jpg (1500x1500, 102K)

dude you're getting a dell

Use it as a home file server, or a media pc, or hook it to your TV for watching videos

That PSU can handle that card?

I wish I was as lucky as you

Have a go at cleaning it up selling in parts or whole. Chalk up your hours spent, fall through sales, etc. Normies get paid by the hour.

Gib it to me.

16:10 mustard race
last time I checked the only corp was Apple who still sold laptops like that.
the only reason why I haven't upgraded mine from 2008

Pfsense box, in-house vpn, backup server, htpc, network ad blocker. Will handle all of those at the same time easily

You must be new here, newfriend. Welcome to 4 channel.

hook it up to a skyminer an make a network hub

>that a 9020 ?
those are (unironically) great little machines you dumb faggot, you are obviously just too stupid to operate it properly. Thats sideways, for a start.
