imagine if this will be applied to linux.
competence? no, thank you.
you've never contributed to kernel and have no idea how it works but have a patch to kernel AND you're minority? WELCOME
Linux isn't going to die. It's just going to be completely taken over by corporate interests once the rest of the good guys have been forced out. Corporations have no problem paying lip service to these nutjobs in order to get what they want, so they'll happily adopt and praise the CoC and all its effects in order to parachute their own people in and take over leadership on the project (nominally "alongside" the loonies, who will be used as attack dogs against anybody who fights back).
I would rather it burn to the ground than be held hostage.
Seriously this, freetards need to show some spine.
It's not going to die, it's just going to get much more accommodating to binary blobs and drivers, which Linus always opposed to.
It is already dead.
I will run my websites on commodore before I run linux again.
why does he hate cabbage so much
that battle was already lost over 5 years ago. Increasingly complex chipsets (WiFi, GPU, etc.) all have been driven to a Host Target computational offload model where they have their own custom cores with custom instructions and binary blobs are a necessity. The CoC isn't going to change this aspect that much, Linus has already ceded to this and quite frankly has to if he wants to keep up compatibility.
It’s actually a case of mistaken identity. What he really hates is sauerkraut.
Not much.
A more appropriate question would be
>how long until the most widely-known free OS is full of adware and subscription options to temporarily remove the adware?
so pretty much ubuntu spyglass 2.0
You haven no idea. Linux is too big to die. Besides, what the fuck would I use then?
>too big
Lol
>using desktop usershares as a metric of how important a piece of software is
You dumb fucking nigger.
>using usershare to show how used a software is bad
Dumb lincuck nigger suck my pp
40 percent of servers run linux.
Wrong bitch
I love Linux and I'll be sad if he dies, but I guess I'll just have to watch Jayz2Cents or Autism Evans from then on.
Can Gentoo run on OpenBSD kernel?
Their is plan Z...
Anyone up for getting the hurd kernel into a usable state?
>market revenue share
>revenue
>linux
....
Never probably, even if the CoC does somehow affect people's ability to program the it'll probably be forked and we'll all continue as usual
>revenue
lol
If I knew the first thing about kernel dev I'd give it a shot just cuz it sounded promising initially but Linux took off better
BSD variant
Corporate guy here, no we won't.
We'll force the loony SJWs out and replace them with a proper HR department. Then we'll write up a proper CoC that mandates an obscene level of red tape, and have our lawyers replace the old one.
Eventually, both the old guard and the resident loony will be replaced with our own engineers, at which point we close-source it and milk it like the cash cow we turned it into.
I may have spent too much time dealing with Oracle. I need a break.
>So how long before Linux inevitably dies?
Ask the LGBTIQH2+ community and their hook nosed sponsors!!
This.
Bingo.
GNU/Linux will never ever die
Shut the fuck up before i shove a whole baseball bat up your ass
> We create the useful idiots, and then dispose of them properly after collecting your progress for our monetary gain.
The post.
