there's nothing wrong with your icons, icons are simply wrong in general: they waste screen space and are usually ugly. My device allows me to launch apps by pressing physical keys, so I don't need icons at all, but I think that labels and gestures are still better for users who have to rely exclusively on touch screen actions.
