LXDE or Xfce?

LXDE

Xfce

which one Jow Forums?

inb4
>use [window manager]
too lazy for that

Xfce, the default Xubuntu settings are 2comfy.
werx, etc.

use kde

Unless you have a really, really shitty PC, XFCE

KDE

nothing wrong with either

Attached: OP.jpg (600x620, 32K)

Lxde would be great if it had an audio volume changer.

xfce unless you're on a slow computer. I personally don't think it matters much feature-wise. Also, look forward for LXQt.

Xfce is just superior in every way

KDE is buggy and doesn't even look good compared to xfce

>LXDE
>themes fucking suck
lmao

you should use lxqt instead of lxde, lxde is dead

> blatant mac ripoff
why are gnumales so pitiful?

That looks like shit

no it doesn't it's all numix themes so the creator of the theme actually made everything to look good together

>freetard OS
>grapes
howling

how about using openbox without goddamn DEs

too lazy to install and configure all extra tools manually

nice theme
name?

> lxde
Try lxqt

no u
is lxqt still in alpha or something? is it usable now?

Dwm
Lxapperance

>change even the slightest setting requires recompile the whole thing

Last time i tried it, it worked just fine.
Lubuntu will start using it from 18.10 onwards.

windowmaker

Xfce of course. LXDE isn't even a real DE. Just a bunch of programs from different sources bundled together.

Looks like shit

lxqt.
The RAM usage of LXDE and the looks of KDE. It's better than xfce in both.

>primitive tools
You can always add different ones later
>themes fucking sucks
You can change every DE to look the way you want

Here's your answer

openbox

LXQT, it's the newer version of LXDE which uses QT.

The Linux digimon: Cinnamon

*eats up 1GB RAM when idle*
thanks

>needing Compton to prevent screen tears
LXQt awaits you

>use more RAM
20, 30 MB more?
Fully functional Debian Xfce (x64) needs 250 MB max from cold start.

neither, MATE is the best DE

>>use less RAM(+)
no
>>use openbox(+)
just install on xfce
>>modular(+)
no
>>primitive tools(-)
just install another
>>themes fucking sucks(-)
no

are you an ubunmer?

>KDE
>buggy
t.buntodller

>ubunmer
>buntodller
The fuck is this suppose to mean?

it means you're using a playskool distro because you're a widdle babby

xfce use ~400mb ram, while LXDE use only ~300mb on my system
how much ram it usually uses?

>xfce use ~400mb
Maybe if your distro have 99999 packages
Stop shitting on Xfce

Holy moly, I can barely imagine splitting hairs over 100 mb of RAM in 2018. You must be from a very poor country.

>xfce use ~400mb ram, while LXDE use only ~300mb on my system
my mate riced eats 260mb on boot. you're an ubunmer

As if recompiling dwm takes more than a second

the latest release of trisquel mini (LXDE) actually looks better than the full MATE version.

Attached: trisquel_mini.jpg (1280x800, 338K)

looks shit

>bentium for :DDDDD
I have a special appreciation for people who buy a shit product (in this case, one of the Jow Forums meme housefires) and stick with them, continuing to use them when all the zoomers have fucked off to the newest flavour-of-the-month PIII refresh.

Xfce is vastly superior in every way. And why saving a few MB of RAM, when a single browser tab will use around 0.2 GB..?

And KDE is just slow (besides ugly and messy). Why wait for ~1 sec. to load a bloody menu?

necause having to use a program to clear up a fault of a DE is ridiculous when LXDE, LXQt, and MATE are vastly superior to XFCE, and if you have the system resources to use KDE plasma, you might as well use the best aesthetic DE if it soothes the 'tism

Tell me one single aspect that makes LXDE or LXQt superior to Xfce? Besides a few MB of RAM...

MATE is cool but has less to offer than Xfce overall.

Better GNOME integration.

And which "program" are you talking about?

are you shitting me? LXDE is literally the same as XFCE when it comes to custimization, it's way more stable, and doesn't need Compton to prevent screen tearing, LXQt isn't on the same level of customization as either LXDE or XFCE, but it is stable and just werks
MATE has a good amount of custimization and is as stable as it gets
Compton, or did you forget already?

Explain. I've never had any problem with any GNOME app on Xfce, and Xfce has just so many more features than those...

Never needed to use Compton. Xfwm4 has worked just fine for me for the last 10 years on 4 laptops.

> LXDE is literally the same as XFCE when it comes to custimization
Bullshit, it's like a 90s Xfce

You are probably too young to remember when XFCE started making their own automounters and bloated shit instead of just using the GNOME ones, but a lot of people stopped using Thunar when they shit up the dependencies.

>bullshit
how the fuck would you know since you've been using XFCE for the last ten years?

I do remember, but you are talking about stuff that happened years ago. Thunar works just fine now.

I tried every DE in existence multiple times for the last few years.

And I use LXDE on 2 VMs. LXDE is cool, but not as a daily drive

The DEs I tested, ordered based on my own ratings:
Xfce4
Cinnamon
KDE
Budgie
deepin
Zorin
Unity 7
Enlightenment
MATE
Moksha
LXQt
LXDE
vera
Pantheon
GNOME
Lumina

Did not test:
Trinity
Étoilé
Hawaii
MaXX
Maynard
Mezzo
MoonLightDE
NEMOSHELL
papyros-shell
CDE
Equinox
GNUstep Application Project
UDE
Window Maker
Manokwari
Endless OS DE
Ukui
Nomad
Yunit
Extern OS DE
JADE
XpDE
Velt OS DE

Fuck KDE

Attached: muh_kde_diversity.png (587x510, 351K)

does lxqt use dolphin? how hard would it be to have it use that and maybe kwin?

GNOME

>way more stable than the most stable DE
Lel
>doesn't need Compton
Luckily this is a non-argument.

>Lumina
what's wrong with Lumina though? is it just undeveloped yet or the whole idea sucks as in the case of GNOME?

Openbox is a pretty good desktop.

>galculator
:DDDD

Use MATE
