Not still, but FOSS software is almost always safe to use and even if some exploits are discovered (which is easier to do in that scenario) they will be patched far quicker (and you could verify it has happened).

I dont care for this, it is actually an improvement for snapchat, its a similar thing that shazam and others provude for music.
The main issue fo it is privacy. Snapchat already suffers from the lack of decent social decorum teenagers have by filming people they dont know unawares and this will probably just make it worse. Also how is amazon gonna feel if their algs are beind used on lets say, an erect penis, a fucked up vagina, a dog turd?
