Nah, even Apple stopped giving a fuck about MacOS. Every update brings some minor irrelevant shit to avoid complete stagnation and keep some interest in laptop devices in unknowing customers, stationary versions of Mac didn't get hardware updates from long time ago, marketing is directing desktop casual users to use iPads. Apple is focusing on iPhone, Apple Watch and AR-stuff, MacOS is way low in priorities of company.
Meanwhile, Windows just got better with Linux Subsystem for professionals, optimisations and touch screen support. Shit, even security improved a lot. Combine that with many great ultrabooks on the market in reasonable prices and you'll see that it's only sane choice for consumer to go.
And no, Linux is not a great option for casual user.
