Good:
2950x screams through everything I throw at it. Absurdly high single and multicore perf. Temperatures are manageable with a 240mm radiator. X399M Taichi is a beast of a board and an absurdly strong performer in both VRMs and features. UEFI is easy and fully featured. Memory outperforms rating (2400MHz CL17 rating, 2933MHz CL18 actual) without throwing errors even under stress tests. 970 Pro is very fast, especially sustained because of the heatsink; performance basically never drops below perfect. SX800-LTI's fan never turns on.
Bad:
NF-A12x25 are louder than reviews say; at 50% they're audible, at 100% they better than everything else but still noticeable. SX800-LTI's PCI-E power outlets don't double as CPU power outlets, so I can't max out the 8 pin + 4 pin power ins that the X399M has, only the 8 pin. 2950x's temperature reporting is confusing, but I eventually discovered that stock Ubuntu 18.04 reports the accurate (non-27c adjusted) temperature through lm-sensors.
Upgrades:
Fill out the other 2 M.2 slots with 970 Pros. I'm also waiting for Optane 905p in the M.2 22110 form factor. I'll load up the last PCI-E x16 slot I have with an ASRock 4x M.2 riser board, slap 4x 905p 1tb on, and let it rip as my ZFS pool's L2ARC. Add 2 more NF-A12x25 fans for push/pull to keep temperatures a bit lower, run at 50% fan speed locked for better noise/perf ratio.

Already ordered PG279Q for my main, but was thinking of cheaping out a little on my second one and just getting a low-MHz IPS monitor. Does your screens being of different quality distract you, like would it be fine to get G-sync and high-MHz for main and get a no-sync and low-MHz for second?

Yeah it's going to be gaming on main one. Youtube/Jow Forums/foobar and maybe some surfing on second one, at least I don't see any reason why I would game on it as well. So I was thinking it was going to be fine to get same size and resolution, but lower MHz and without g-sync to save some money.
I could go fullscreen on both but jesus christ my fucking wallet, if I'm going to spend that much then I might as well get 2080TI.
