IPv6 is cancer

2chan has a IPv6 board open to foreigners.

dumb animeposters

What's even the point of IPv6? Why couldn't they just expand IPv4 adding like 3 more numbers instead of making it a unreadable mess.

how to into ipv6 with unbound?
evidently my dns settings are fug

oh right now i remember the fucking problem
What the ungodly fuck is the equivalent of localhost/127.0.0.1 for ipv6

My ISP added IPv6 options to their router GUI, so it'll probably be up sometime next year.

>What the ungodly fuck is the equivalent of localhost/127.0.0.1 for ipv6
::1

oh
i feel dumb now

>at a friends lan party
>connect to the server bro
>sure what is it
>192.168.82.3
>oh wait everything switched to ipv6
>heres the new IP

That is, LITERALLY, what they did. The "unreadable mess" is shortening the OP and allows for omitting zeroes - shortening the IPs even more.
Nobody thinks of IPs as actual numbers anyways, so changing from dec to hex isn't bad and -if anything- makes calculating subnets and masks in your head easier

I don’t think anybody uses custom servers anymore. And if they did, it would simply force developers to enforce unique names for them. Something that they could implement in a week if they wanted
I mean what game doesn’t allow you to name your server?
