*Randomly dies a week after warranty*
Nothin personal

I have HDDs from the 90s that still work. Let me know if your cheap little disk-on-a-chip SSDs work after 20+ years, kids.

Cool, I didn't even get the *click* *whine* part with my SSDs - they just magically turned into not-very-good-because-they-were-too-light paperweights.

>10 year old drive
>daily use
>clicking and whining for three years
hang in there buddy

These.

Based and HDDpilled

end its suffering you meanie

>waiting 5 minutes for your PC to boot
>waiting 5 days for fitgirl repacks to install
>by the time the CS:GO map loads for you, the match is already over

I have a pair of 500GB drives in the machine I'm typing this on. In front-line service, holding all the stuff I'm actively using. I have a pair of 160GB Hitachis from 2006 in another machine holding backups of some of that stuff. they still scrub clean.

>over 10 years old
>works perfectly albeit is a bit slow
also what the fuck after trying to install gentoo and failing ive lost like 70 GB and have no idea how to recover it

Touch wood never had any HDD or SSD fail in my life. Traditionally I'd trust HDD over SSD, as I've left material on USB sticks which has become corrupt after a year or some shit.

I feel like this SSD meme is only shortening numales already minuscule attention spans even further

Backup your shit.
Almost lost 220gb of porn on SSD

cheap ass 240gb ssd for os and programs, 2tb hdd for everything else, as it should be

>220 GB of porn
Christ, you have a problem, user. I know freaks are loaded with TBs, but it's still way excessive

you people have some awfully strange ideas

I have 140GB of 1080p porn. I only store videos that I can watch multiple times without getting bored of them. I do sometimes delete a few if I feel like I won't watch them again and download a few to replace those.

>1tb M.2 SSD for OS and Virtual Machine
>1tb SSD for everything else
>3tb HDD hotswap for backup

I'm hoping to completely phase out my use of HDDs within the next decade. They really grind my gears.

Why is everyone in this thread so retarded. Did you anons know that you can use SSD and HDD storage AT THE SAME TIME? Crazy, right?
>medium-sized SSD for OS and some programs and games, regular backups so you don't loose data a week after warranty
>fuckhuge HDD(s) for movies, anime, porn and games that don't need to be on fast storage, bonus points for RAID 1.

Quite literally my setup (Corsair LE, WD Black).
