Programming Career Advice

I live in Los Angeles County area, any software devs that live here can give me advice on the surrounding industry?

Which programming language should I pursue to become a code monkey and make money?

Should I make several CRUD apps and a personal website displaying them? What kind of CRUD apps?

I am basically trying to make money to save my life, since the acid reflux can cause a condition that is pre-cancerous and I'd need a shitload of money for treatment to laser off the cancer if that is happening.

Any advice on becoming an entry software dev is appreciated.

look at local listening for something like an IT trainee or entry level web developer. Start using Python. A lot. Get really good at it. Start using Django. Make a github account.

Other option is react. You have Javascript experience all ready. Once you're proficient, start using redux.

You don't need to be an expert or anything, just be able to show you can actually use the language you claim in interviews.

Thanks bud, do you have any tips for CRUD apps I can make?

lol wut

learn java with spring boot.

You might not get to stay in LA. It's a fact of life, man. While the industry is thirsty as shit for anyone with 2+ years of experience, entry level is VERY competitive.

Don't really have advice, just wanted to say keep going user. Shit like that happens but you have to say fuck you and just keep going forward. Your attitude really matters with how your life turns out. You're gonna make it.

>dropped out
>due to FUCKING ACID REFLUX of all things
This is beyond soi

Did you even read his post?

What is the point? This shitbag isn't worth anyone's time.

Something tells me going in random threads being a dickwad is the least pathetic thing you do all day

Depends on what you define as pathetic. I know most people don't like to spend their time reading non-fiction and find that pathetic. So, do with that what you will.

>taking advice from an anime board filled with NEETs and highschool students

>Being such a genetic deadweight that you actually lost your voice to fucking acid reflux
>Actually letting things get that bad in the first place, showing he didn't even take care of himself on top of that
>Blogposting
>Redditspacing
You both should go back and stop shitting the place

Nothing in his post is a viable reason to drop out of school. Reflux laryngitis is a symptom of obesity. It's likely he ate his way into dropout status. He's fat and lazy, and you're an idiot.

I got some advice: become a web dev. that's what I did.

Why do you need to talk to go to school? If you need communicate just do it through writing on a board or something.

It's kinda hilarious you pretend to have medical knowledge on here

You seem to be very familiar with how reddit is formatted.

It's kinda hilarious that you're forming a strawman because you're backed into a corner and now you look really stupid whit-knighting some fat slob dropout.

>whit-knighting
Yikes! You should cut your losses and post elsewhere friend.

just kill yourself already, you worthless piece of shit

anons, could you give me some advice?

I'm 25 from latin america. Basically the economic situation in my country has directly affected my job (video and graphic design) along with other industries, but I'm determined to see this a second chance. I started the CS50 course a week ago. I'm doing fine and loving it so far.

Basically my question is, if I really give it my all, would it be possible for me to get a job remotely? I checked the jobs here for IT, programmers, developers, etc...and the pay isn't that good.

Assuming I put in all the work, what are the odds of me getting a remote job online considering I'm not american or european?

I need to make around 1.5k or 2k a month to be ok. (I'm estimating like 6 months of learning before I start applying. I'd be ok with earning less at first cause you know, I'm starting out.)

(I know I'm not being specific enough when it comes to languages but it's cause I'm literally just starting out with the cs50 course. any advice is appreciated.)

The fact that you guys are asking for help on Jow Forums is how I know you're never going to make it. There are 17 year olds who are way better than you are and ever will be

Download PyCharm first.
Then go to youtube and follow along with a tutorial. Once you're comfortable, change it up and make it your own. Example: youtube.com/watch?v=Kf9KB_TZY5U

If you can afford the 10 dollars, I would really go to Udemy and grab the following and get to work: udemy.com/python-and-django-full-stack-web-developer-bootcamp/

good luck OP.

>There are 17 year olds who are way better than you are and ever will be
That's true for you as well, in fact it's true for everybody.

Idc user, most of those 17 year olds don't have the determination and the desperate thirst for survival I have. If they're good, good for them, I gotta focus on me.

You should take your own advice, especially when you look so foolish. Are you going to make a counter-argument actually addressing anything relevant, or just strawman some more?

Why would I debate illiterate people?

>>Dropped out of school 4 months ago because I developed acid reflux coming up to my throat so I lost my voice (was a good student though made president's list)

why do you need your voice?

Strawman number three. I'm starting to think I'm talking to a woman here.

You're hitting all the stereotypes I was suspecting. Reply again so I know you'll just keep autistically replying to everything just to have the last word. Then I'll be satisfied.

You can learn any language you want but it won’t make you a programmer.

Study the methodology of programming so you won’t be another Deborah. Learning the syntax of a new language is nothing compared to knowing how to use it.

There’s a huge difference between being a good programmer and being a disorganized idiot who’s too lazy to label functions and variables properly, and/or writes 30 lines of code to perform a task that can be done in 3.

Programming is sort of like writing a book. You can have a broad vocabulary and proper grammar, but that doesn’t mean you can write a good book. It requires brainstorming and planning. Developing an application requires good brainstorming and planning, not just knowing Java, or C#, etc.

Ok. As long as you keep replying without a counter-argument, I'll keep replying to let you know.

Go back to school and finish yer degree

you quit going to school because of acid reflux? this is the equivalent of saying you quit going to school because of a stomach ache.
