I'm looking at buying a new phone, specifically the Galaxy S9. The price on Ebay is AU$880 but in store it's AU$1164. Is there any advantage to buying it in store? I'm almost tempted to pay the extra ~$300 because my old phone won't hold a charge, and because I can take it back in straight away if it's faulty.

How's the XA2 for a midranger for a brainlet? I don't want any chinkshit and fuckhueg phones. My initial option was the XZ1, but the XA2 seems like a good deal.

I have a mi mix 2s and wanted to install the google camera mod. I'm new to all this but can someone correct me if im wrong, but from my understanding, I would need to unlock the bootloader, install a developer rom and then i can install gcam? What rom should I use? I'm content with MiUi so far, I just want to be able to use gcam since the default camera software is shit

If it's new and in a sealed box there shouldn't be any difference. just make sure it's a reputable seller.

download the modded .apk

What's your budget? Have you checked out the XZ1 Compact, can often be found under 300€.

where do you guys pirate apk's from?

mobilism dot org

>still no Android 8 Update for Moto G5
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Fuck Lenovo, fucking chinkshit garbage

Reposting because ded thred

Mexico. But it would appear that I'm retarded, and those are in the same price range, if only the 2S being a bit higher on the 128GB version. Why would you rather go for the 2S, if you don't mind?

should i buy a note 8 right now? i have an iphone 6 and an ipad right now, looking at getting a big ass phone so i can read manga on it and sell my ipad

ive been to this page and downloaded the apk before
my phone wouldn't open it. Do I need to have it rooted and unlocked to install it?

XS Max

It's the perfect phone as long as you don't plan on having custom ROM support

celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/MGC_3.2.45_A6.0H_MI6_MIMix.apk

You have to have Camera2 API enabled, either via ADB or root.

Install the APK and launch it

Go to settings > B-S-G Mod Settings

Model > Nexus 5X and restart the app (also clear from recents menu)

Enjoy

Any anons in here with a Mi Mix 2S? If so how is it and is there any type of service for the phone in the US if something happens to it? I saw some reviews on Amazon saying that it can't function on CDMA networks even though it says it's the global version, are the reviewers just retarded or will it not actually work on CDMA networks? I'm about to buy into the Xiaomeme.

why not wait for the mi mix 3?

Post the best 50-150 dollar phones that support both US bands and Germany. Bonus points if it's comically oversized to the point where you're holding a tablet to your ear.

Camera2 API is enabled on Mi Mix 2S out of box

the lg g7 is a good phone I'm surprisingly satisfied with after owning it for a few months, ama

The reviewers are being retards, it'll work on Verizon as long as you have a pre-activated SIM.

>bought a new LG V20 battery direct from LG
>90% battery capacity per AccuBattery app out of the box

is this normal

How's it shit?

Its only a estimate. Accubattery isn't completely accurate and you need to do several charge cycles before it gives even a somewhat accurate results.

Verizon whitelists the devices it allows on its network, even if it has the bands it won't work.

That's where you're wrong. You can activate the SIM in a Verizon approved phone and then put it in a non-approved phone and it'll work as long as the bands are supported, which both the Mix 2 and Mix 2S do.

I wanted to wait for the Mi Mix 3 but it sounds like the major changes are on the design end and not exactly the hardware end. With my current phone having a Super AMOLED screen I'd hate to go backwards to IPS LCD but it can't be too bad. If Xiaomi decides to finally put an AMOLED panel on the Mi Mix 3 then I'll definitely buy it.

for the price is there anything that beats an lg v20?

hifi dac(most important)
decent camera
sd card
4gb ram
1080p screen
removable battery

what else can i get thats a bit more newer for a similar price that has/beats those specs?

I'm gonna have a monthly phone contract with Vodafone that I'm getting through work. I took a look at the selection but I'm not really sure what's good. Most of what they have are big name shit like most recent iphone, samsung phone, sony phone etc. My current phone is shit so it'd be nice to get something good.

What would you guys recommend? Only wanted features would probably be long battery life and screen that could support 1080p 60fps video. Also I'm from Scotland, because the OP told me to mention.

For some reason, LG is STILL the only phone company that actually has some good audio.
Too bad LG is a shit company.
The only alternative is some chink phone + DAP

iPhone XS Max

What makes it stand out above all the rest? Might give it a try still, though I was always a bigger fan of android.

Attached: 1536298183836.jpg (1361x1892, 1.48M)

I just got mine and im on verizon. No problems. I hear that you gotta have a pre activated sim though, In my case I just used the sim from my old iphone.

Install Blokada

thanks

these new chrome tabs look like that awful pixel 3xl notch

How is it for you? Anything stand out? I got a Droid Turbo on its last legs.

Hardware feels very nice and everything else I'm satisfied with. I'm overall very happy with it besides the camera which is really disappointing. Came from an iphone 6 and the camera on that 5 year old phone is significantly better in all conditions besides when lighting is perfect. 2s's camera is useless unless lighting is good. Apparently the google camera mod fixes it

when is the mix 3 and 6T gonna be announced, i dont want to have to get an xs

just got an android coming from an iphone. What guides should I read or watch on modifications? I feel like a retard trying to sift through xda forums

Download F-Droid, install Blokada

Attached: blokada.png (433x433, 29K)

gots an LG G6 wat do with it. Got blackanda already

When I try to install an apk, I get "error parsing file". I dunno how to allow installation of unknown apps, my phone just has a list with every goddamn app on the phone with a toggle for permission. I tried enabling the toggle for file manager and downloads with no luck. How do I install apps not on appstore?

what's the best afordable OLED display smartphone?

lrn2google

Waiting for next wave of releases so we can have some variety in OP pics

yeah i am looking for that but my phone does not have it, either way the problem somehow just fucked off and it works now

i don't trust chinky AMOLED, burn in happens, not all the time but I'd rather not take the risk
also no notch, and I think the design is slicker on the mix

So for various reasons I'm stuck with an iPhone at the moment.

Is jailbreaking even worth it in 2018?

A lot of people said the camera was pretty good, would it at least be better than the Droid Turbo's camera?

oh god yes, consider the age of the droid vs the age of the mix, don't you think the camera sensors have improved in that time? but honestly what really matters is the software, and being that there are GCam ports for it, it will make it way better than the droid could even dream to be

On one hand I want to get a Pixel 3 when it launches for a pure Android experience and decent camera but on the other hand the Mi Mix's design makes much more sense for me since I rarely use the front-facing camera at all, there should be more phones like the Mi Mix or at least the Mi Mix 3 with its manual sliding mechanism.

6T will probably be decent

I wish I could get a OnePlus phone but I'm on Verizon so I'm limited to a bunch of flagships or 2 Chinese phones.

Is it still worth buying a phone with a Snapdragon 625? Runing android 8.1

Attached: 1536395022366.jpg (1600x1203, 160K)

Now that the notch meme has been done to death - what is going to be the new fad?

Cpu's are stagnant, with no signs of improvement
16gb ram phones have been done
Bezel-less phones can be had right now with some drawbacks
camera upgrades are incremental/placebo

Is muh-AI or folding displays going to be it? Phones have gotten so boring lately.

Attached: 1532610763879.jpg (800x1120, 114K)

It's gonna be slamming more cameras in, then secondary oled/e-ink screens and finally folding screens. If apple ever regrows some balls and and remove the charging ports or buttons that might create a fad too.

depends what other specs/features you want, but theres the mi 8 se, samsung a series, pixel phones, etc. use:
gsmarena.com/search.php3?

what I'm hoping for is a proper fucking USB protocol, like alot of phones nowadays have USB-C but they're stuck on USB 2.0, I would like to see Thunderbolt implemented considering the license is up, but I have no clue if they will ever implement it
I mean fuck, at least make the C-ports USB 3.1 for fucks sake

Why don't we ever have an iphone edition

what do you think the "s" in /spg/ stands for?

My local carrier is doing an insane deal on the Xperia XZ Premium with the 4K screen, it's only $55/month on a 2 year plan when the competing carrier's price is $89/month. And since I'm already on the $45/month plan just for data and calls, I'd essentially be paying $240 for a phone that retails for $1000 normally.

Should I do it?

I bought this MHL adapters to connect my Galaxy S4 to a HDTV and watch videos on. I accidentally bought a second one as well. It worked fine for a couple of months but then rather quickly the video connection degraded, getting worse every day. I started using the other one I bought but that also has video connection issues. The phone charges fine otherwise. While it is possible the microUSB on the S4 is dying, is it possible the adapter I bought was poorly manufactured or had controlled obsolescence built in?

Tips/tricks for continuing to watch videos using the adapter? I clean it with a q-tip and Isopropyl alcohol and it sort of patches the poor connection temporarily.

So Moto G4.

Been a good phone. Liked it more and got more responsiveness and use out of it than the expensive Samsung I had before it. Finding the pricey phones tend to just add bullshit, corrupt android, and leave you to die when they don't feel like continuing their garbage android fork.

Considering a Moto G6, but with the release of G5 networks on the horizon and a possible move away from CDMA I'm thinking Huawei phones may become an option for me. Should I wait?

I do like me some Huawei. Friend has one and its one of the most user friendly solid phones that doesn't dick with android too much I've seen and its PC drivers are amazingly good.

People generally know what they are getting with an iphone. Not a lot to discuss, its an iphone. Granted I guess its possible to discuss that the last quality iphone was the 5s and all the models since then have had crippling bugs that only affect some users so Apple has largely kept it quiet. But not much else. Seriously it pisses me off because I know people that love them and depend on them for work and for their price they should be damn flawless and they are far from it now.

I'm going to give my galaxy s5 to me bro (i've got lineage on it) and i was looking for a newer phone to replace it with.

anywhere from $100 to $200 or so, was looking at nexus 6, galaxy s7, iphone 6s, and such currently. I'd like it to have sprint support since I use tello for their $9/1gb plan (i use google hangouts/voice as primary number). I can switch to another provider, like redpocket mobile, to get att or tmo sim, if a chink phone is just as good

We just did this week you fucking faggot

I'm upgrading my phone in the next week or two I have the choice of the Huawei p10 p10 mate P20 P20 Pro and honor 10 the difference between them per month is around £7

Should I just go for the P20 Pro or is there any drawback that I'm not thinking of?

All phones come with unlimited texts unlimited minutes and 100GB data.

main drawback: having to rely on Huawei for updates amd being stuck on EMUI because the bootloader is no longer unlockable since June

I fell for the root meme on my a2 lite and it became a buggy piece of crap. I relocked the bootloader and yet I can't install the september security update. Apparently I need to flash the official boot.img according to xda's pajeets. What is the easiest way of doing this?

chink /spg/ general

Why might an illegally downloaded apk have a larger filesize than its playstore counterpart
Obvi im thinking malware but i know theres some other explanation

open twrp, wipe system along with the usual partitions when doing a fresh install. check XDA for full details on clean flash but the most important is wiping system. Then reflash the original rom

malware

Try yalp store

Im trying to get freebies dude

Doesn't it have paid apps for fee, btw which app?

help me out, which one should i choose: the oneplus 6 or the pixel 2 xl? both "used"(they are in perfect condition) and they both cost the same.

Pixle desu, check for screen burn ins before buying

No yalp store doesnt have paid apps for free
But i just checked yalp for the app im trying to get and it has a larger file size than the play store as well, same size as the illegal download so whats going on here?
All 3 are the same version

Its a substratum theme

nah it seems good, it's on pie and i can't see the previous software button designs on the screen.

Most probably malware

How pocomeme for ROM support? And does anyone know how it fairs in Aus?

see for yourself
forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development

Been wanting to upgrade from my galaxy s5 for a while. Getting sick of all the bloat and slowdowns from update to update. Could anyone recommend me a phone under $600?

I live in the US
My carrier is T-mobile
As far as features, headphone jack is a must, so is expandable memory, removable battery would be nice but not required. Don't really care about size anything 5" or over seems fine to me.

Asus ZenFone 5Z

SO yeah, i need to recover for a month(broke arm) and i want to do a lot of learning in the meantime

but i'll be stuck in a house with no internet or wifi, but i have an unlimited amount of data on my phone

how can i bypass hotspot shit on an atnt with a s7 active

ALSO
S7 Active review - 10/10 great phone.

Has a programable button i want to explore the abilities of with programming. I think having programmable, physical buttons is vital for a phone and i wouldn't fucking touch a phone without one

I can trigger this thing to all kinds of shit. it's annoying to bump it, but i just don't fucking trust touch screen only controls.

THe active is also pretty "Waterproof", i've used it for photos in wet activities and shit, and it's never had trouble, esp with a physical button to press

IIRC the battery is 4000mah, which is bigger then most of the phone chargers you can buy in stores, and even with a lot of use it makes it through the day. Spent a lot of time homeless with this phone and it's all worked pretty well

Case wise, it's got a metal case, slightly recessed screen, with semi rubberized shit around it. I've thrown this across the phone and all kinds of shit, this phone is a durrable android brick with decent reception, A AUDIO HEADPHONE JACK, ok call quality but i generally use headphones to be more professional with calls.

I have used galaxy models before, but honestly, Galaxy models suck. Get the active for the beafier, stronger, generally more life proof. spend an extra 50 bucks, spend more for an online pelican case or some shit. It's nearly 1k investment new, and this thing has more power then the shitty HP laptop i'm using ATM.

At least the laptop is 1tb mem

But yeah, i do need help fucking around with it beyond standard usage. i want to see what this fucker can really do because i've never had a game fail, rarely overload the ram from surfing for something like 100 chrome porn tabs

ANYWAY yeah someone help me unlock wifi hotspot

The S5 Sport had a removable battery but the S7 active doesn't have the same ease. FML but it's generally pretty good

Too many pajeets

I'm really surprised how durable my mix 2 is, especially the screen.

I've dropped it from waist length to the pavement getting out of my car several times and think "FUCK" when it's face down, then I pick it up and wipe it on my shirt, and massive relief when it still looks brand new. 5 times or so already.

Thanks user, very solid recommendation, pretty sure I'm going with this unless anything wacky happens.

Best phone for privacy? I don't mind custom roms but like a big screen

Pastaland here, looking to get a new phone since mine is starting to give out during calls and overall perfomance is dropping like a rock.

Going in the 300-400 EUR range, looking for a device to run few games (namely FGO), watch videos and with a decent battery.
Camera isn't much of a priority.

I'd like some pointers, mostly regarding the chipset - SD835 devices fits better then price range, but how much do they lose to SD845 ones? Or is the former good enough for my needs to just get that and be content with it?

Pocophone

Prendi un pocomeme, ha un SD845, una batteria di 4000mAh e costa solo 300€. Il mio funziona perfettamente in Francia, anche in Italia dovrebbe funzionare bene

If it had good ROM support to get rid of bugman botnet maybe

It already has lineageos support and more will surely come. It has an unlockable bootloader and is one of the best value devices of the past years, good support for something like that is a given.

There's already several ROMs available even though the phone is barely one month old:
forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development

Link the lineage support? Swear I only see the pixel experience one everywhere I look
