those sure were the days *sips*

XP was one of my most miserable experiences with microsoft products.

The amount of times the TCP stack got corrupted was off the charts. Endless errors, endless BSODs. Meanwhile 95 and 98 ran reasonably well. I don't remember having many problems with 3.1 either.

I used XP 64 bit on a Pentium 4 as my main machine until 2013. 1 hyperthreaded core was enough to run it. 4 Gb DDR1 RAM in 4 slots. Not a bad machine. I remember when I got my new computer hating how W7 needed a shell mod to let you organize your folders like XP did.

I still have an old HP laptop from 2004 that was my main computer for about four years which still runs XP. I kept it around as my troubleshooting and travel computer until I replaced it with an x220t Thinkpad in 2014.

Sounds like you must have had a NIC with a really poor driver.

My XP was generally stable and would stay up for a couple weeks before needing a reboot because it would run out of GDI handles and stuff like menus and dialog box controls would start failing to draw.

based

I remember being shocked that I only bluescreened once a month VS two times a day when I was using 98.

XP's stability was an after-the-fact matter; it was initially quite broken.

It's only an intersection with XP but these sounds remain some of the comfiest ones ever for me: youtu.be/FGJtu3wivks?t=9

During the bulk of my years running Windows XP, I was a fan of "aquifying" Windows to make it look like OSX.

Good times.

High School playing BZ Flag and Natural Selection with friends good times.

i remember actually having to wait more than 10 seconds to see my desktop. i miss it honestly. those were simpler times.

looks comfy user :)

I still use Win XP on my Toshiba NB100. Even can use Dropbox with 3rd party software. For browsing, I use slimjet. So, a very convenient machine when I'm on the road.

Only issue: The most recent Tor release doesn' t work on Xp because it got F/fox 60.

>having to wait more than 10 seconds to see my desktop

What's the issue? Do you now wait 1 mn or what?

I was using XP as my main OS until 2014.

low quality "underage" bait

>he doesn't have microsoft sam on windows 10

As a result of my main computer breaking I was forced to use my old xp laptop for half a year until February this year.
Still was entirely usable.

I used it until 2010/11, then I switched to Ubuntu, I really miss XP days I even have my XP Fate theme somewhere just for the nostalgia, it's probably impossible to find it now.

That's for running 2K/XP software on 98/Me, which are GUI-on-DOS crap that only an idiot will be using.

It was a decent OS and DirectX 9 was solid.Windows 7 is a worthy successor.

DOS is 16 bit real mode
Windows 95 was a protected mode 32 bits OS
Learn the difference. It could save your life.

I clicked on "Hide desktop icons" and proceeded to cry because I thought I formatted the home PC.

Good times. I used it up until 2010. Shit the bed a lot less often than Windows 95 and 98 did.
