In a way America had to gain independence.the colonies were getting heavily taxed and subjugated by the both the king and his parliament. Leaving the colonists and farmers with little to no money or sometimes valuable resources at the hands of the king. Members of the American colonial society argued the position of "no taxation without representation", starting with the Stamp Act Congress in 1765. They rejected the authority of the British Parliament to tax them because they lacked members in that governing body. The rebels were only rebelling against the king's rule and wanting to gain independence peacefully. The Declaration of independence itself is living proof of founding fathers intentions and humanity amongst Great Britain(U.K.)
