So there is no real technical problem achieving a fanless graphics card? Basically just space, weight distribution and cost. Neither which are unfathomable for a determined consumer. I mean, assuming someone made the thing in the first place.

Well yeah but the market for a fifteen-pound graphics card that needs all seven slots is rather limited. Passive cooling gets much more difficult very quickly as you add more heat, especially because chips have very stringent maximum temperatures by thermal-engineering standards, and they also generate a lot of heat from a very small area.

That's also why fanlessness is limited to low-end cards. The high-end cards can push more pixels pretty much entirely because they can draw more power. The amount of power you can draw (and the amount of heat you can dissipate) is the main thing that limits how fast you can make a chip that's doing some super-parallel task. (See also: Intel and the chilled-water firehose they used to get 28 5GHz cores)
