HDR is literally the only reason why 4K TVs are even somewhat worth it.
How small do you want it to be? Anything below 55'' is a waste of money and you'd be better off with a 1080p display.

Not quite sure, only just started considering it. I'd like it to be wall-mounted above my desk so viewing distance is only about 8 ft. 55" definitely seems like overkill in that scenario so I assume 4k is as well

I bought a 47" Samsung one last holiday season and there is a difference. you won't notice at first but I can definitely see the difference when I watch a 1080 TV. sorta like the jump between 720 and 1080.

but I only got one because I got an Xbox One X and it basically requires a 4K TV to make it worth purchasing. though I put most games on 60fps instead of resolution these days so what do I know.
