Stop listing other generals in the OP, you infinite fucking retard
Tyler Russell
How do I get rid of files I accidentally written to system32?
Hunter Cooper
Any Polish Swiftkey users? Is that keyboard annoying to you too? There so many problems when it comes to writing in the language.
Ethan Barnes
>Stop listing other generals in the OP no, you. >How do I get rid of files I accidentally written to system32? what?
Luis Howard
how to make any window semi-transparent when using xfce? the window tweak settings only changes borders and shit. I just want to have a rather transparent background to gedit.
what's a decent lock screen that looks great? the default lightdm one looks like utter shit, even though I've tried to customize it some.
what window manager would you recc for someone who wants a minimalist programming milieu?
Owen Hill
In Anne Pro's bluetooth configuration mode, what does the A key do besides changing colors from red to green and back again?
There's no mention of it in the manuals.
Angel Anderson
what's a good distro strictly for virtualizing/emulating guest OSes

So I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S7 AT&T on Nougat 7.0 (G930AUCS4BRA1) and I'm trying to find stock firmware for the phone with a home_CSC file so I can unroot my phone without losing my data However the only stock firmwares I've been able to find for my phone have the regular CSC that will wipe my data Is there one for my phone with home_csc or am I SOL?
Levi Campbell
is this an okay speed for a cheap usb flash drive 2.0?
I got an internal job offer as a java programmer. I am in tech, but not a java programmer. Since I am so high in the company, I am afraid the expectations will be too great. Should I take the job and ramp up over the next month?
Logan Stewart
Depends how much you paid for it. A waterproof 250MB/s USB is like $5-8.
Ryder Morris
Any modern distro with binary packages would work, if you're doing PCI passtrough get tumbleweed so you unfuck your system with snapshots in case you break the kernel. Yeah. >java Don't bother.
Connor Collins
perhaps try your compositor settings, although xfce probably isn't the DE for you if you want these kinds of bells and whistles
try i3 and i3lock if you don't mind tiling autism, they're fully compatible with xfce: you just have to switch out xfwm guides should be easy to find on google
Christian Fisher
WHAT IS A GOOD PC CLEANUP TOOL THAT I DON'T NEED TO FUCKING PAY BONUS POINTS: A GOOD ANTIVIRUS TOO
Delete them? Unless you mean you overwrote files. Windows will fix that on its own, though you can use SFC.
If you accidentally installed something to system32, you can likely sort by creation date to find them, but if they aren't big, just leave em there. Ya don't wanna be screwing with files in system32 willy nilly.
Camden Williams
I'd pass. If you're so far up, why are they 'offering' it to you? Sounds like it's a hint that your division is getting axed.
Adam Morgan
I use windows 10 and I don't want to use linux
Nicholas Parker
You can't clean it up, the OS itself is a botnet. Read the TOS, faggot.
Connor Myers
I applied since I am getting bored. Saying I am high up may be the wrong way to put it. I am a senior, so I remain one when moving around.
Easton Thompson
I don't give a fucking shit about the botnet meme, I just want something that might be better than CCleaner
Easton Torres
If you're cleaning your PC, you're gonna be erasing Windows anyways, so what's the harm of booting to Linux once?
You can't really clean the PC from inside Windows anyways.
Leo Jackson
Anyone? I just wanna know how I can return to stock without losing my data
Well, if you're bored, let them know that you are a little rusty in Java, but you'll take the position, I guess.
Run Defender then, there's literally no reason to 'clean up' that OS. You'll just break it.
Nathaniel Powell
How do I transfer 300GB+ of files to a new HDD?
I'm worried that if I use Windows copy function, either it'll hang, stop, corrupt or forget some files. It's just too big of an order for it.
Also, is it possible to copy them with the original modification time stamps? This one isn't a priority I'm more interested in moving all of the files as painlessly as possible.
Thomas Jenkins
>Whats so good about mechanical keyboards? Better to type on. Read up about the different types, they all feel and sound different.
Lincoln Martinez
>CCleaner Oh, you want a driver cleaner/optimizer? Not a low level PC cleaner... That's different.
For driver cleaning you can use Guru3D's Driver Cleaner... Most "optimizers" are total bullshit though, causing more problems than they solve, and aren't going to save you much space. Can't think of one I'd recommend, though SpaceSniffer is good if you want to optimize drive space manually.
Jackson Thomas
You can't erase Windows from inside Windows. You're asking for the wrong thing - see
Angel Murphy
>I use windows 10 and I don't know how to use linux ftfy Linux live cd, mount both drives and copy with cp -p to preserve metadata.
actually I installed ubuntu on a previous machine but I really had no use for linux since I'm a gaymer faggot and I'm not into programming or anything related right now and obviously at the time, the only way of emulating windows games was a shitty wine version so of course I switched back on my new PC
John Nguyen
boot with a linux liveUSB, use cp -p. Windows has a shitload of overhead, it would take like 10 hours to do it. Linux takes like an hour.
Jordan Collins
>>>/spg/
Henry Ward
No it doesn't, Windows can copy large amounts of files just fine, that other user is retarded. Windows is an enterprise OS copying files is a core function of any OS.
Aaron Rodriguez
Yeah, but he wasn't telling you to install gentoo - he was suggesting using an ISO boot to run a PC cleaner... But a PC cleaner isn't what you really wanted.
Parker King
You don't have to press the keys all the way down for they keystroke to be registered, they also have some physical and audible feedback for when the key is actuated.
Since you don't have to press the keys all the way down they can be more comfortable to type on and can can have a better response time when compared to a cheappo membrane keyboard, although it depends on the type of keyboard, since some of them have stiff-as-fuck switches that need a sledgehammer to press them
If you are buying one for gaymen don't expect to suddenly become some leet MLG pro just because you are using a mechanical keyboard, tho
Jeremiah Allen
>No it doesn't Depends on the type of files, and how many there are.
Ryan Anderson
Just installed a second version of Windows next to my current one but now my Ethernet adapter is fucked. ipconfig shows my physical address as all zeros tried deleting and reinstalling drivers, ipconfig /release doesn't work, and rebooting everything. No luck, the physical address in the device manager advanced properties shows it as not set. This is in both OS.
Easton Perez
Why the fuck cant i get the correct colors setting for firefox or waterfox on xubuntu. Ive tried everything. Either i can see what ive typed in some search fields or some websites i cant see any of the text. Wtf is going on here
Matthew Foster
300GB shouldn't be a problem, provided they aren't user protected/running or what not.
If you want a log of the files to be sure they all copied, you can xcopy from the command prompt with ">log.txt" stuck on the end, or you can go through 7z, or whatnot.
Dude, Windows does not take 10 hours to copy 300GB unless you're running on a machine from the 90's. Indeed, if Linux took an hour I'd throw it out. I shuffle that much shit between drives several times a week and it's like 10 minutes, even between the 5400RPM drives.
Caleb Lee
Is this a good analogy?
Voltage = base Damage amperage = fire/cast rate Wattage = DPS
Hunter Reyes
no
Leo Cooper
Kewt, but no. You can take several hundred thousand volts and be fine.
Brayden Morgan
Is ucrtbase.dll a file I can delete?
Oliver Rivera
I'm trying to get TempleOS to work in virtualbox. Every time I boot up I keep getting guru meditation and a crash. Looking at the log I think this is the source of the problem. I can paste a full pastebin if someone wants.
Looked online and it seems one other person had this problem but the thread went nowhere.
...and don't delete anything else in there unless it's huge and you know exactly what it is.
Tyler Murphy
Just copy it normally. If it's another user's system files (or their documents directory), ya might have to get into ownership or some such, but if it's just regular files, it'll be fine.
Nathan Sullivan
Oh I should add that I'm using Ubuntu 18.04
Gabriel King
>I shuffle that much shit between drives several times a week and it's like 10 minutes You can transfer 300GB to an external drive in Windows in 10 minutes? O-okay...
Carter King
Depends on how much current whatever you are being shocked by can deliver and for what duration of time.
Nicholas Morris
With a USB 3.0 drive? Yes. Granted, I'm usually shuffling shit between internal drives.
John Butler
I'm just trying to copy my old drive onto my new bigger drive. Jow Forums please
Connor Moore
You're full of shit dude.
Just copy it however you want. Do it in windows, tell us how long it says it's going to take.
Justin Bennett
Oh, that'll be a problem because there are protected system files and such involved. You'll need to either do the Linux thing or use third party software, and will probably need to copy at the partition level.
A bat script added some dll and other files to system32 because I used run as admin on it
Lucas Long
fixed this garbage by taking out the cmos battery to reset it
Evan Phillips
It's probably fine. If you're the ucrtbase.dll guy, that's part of the Microsoft Visual C++ libraries, which, if it wasn't there already, some other software that requires VS Runtimes will eventually install, and overwrite if it's an older version. (And if you delete it, and some software requires them, it'll break until reinstalled.)
Again, if it overwrote something, Windows will probably restore it at next access (or you can force it via SFC), but if it's just random little DLLs and such, not worth the risk of trying to comb them out. They probably all have the same date created timestamp though.
Cooper Martin

what old computers/OSes are accurately emulated/virtualized (or nearly so)? i like playing with old systems
Easton Moore
I meant with like real 3D women.

Anyone else here uses Jdownloader with pinterest to download entire boards at once? I've been doing this for quite some time but it suddenly stopped working. Pinterest links get ignored by the clipboard linkgrabber, and if I manually past them in, I get a bunch of duplicate files (with different file sizes, as if it was downloading thumbnails and originals for each image) and it starts going deeper and deeper and fetching links that don't come from pinterest (like if a pin is a pic from twitter, it will start grabbing all the pictures from that twitter). What the fuck happened and how do I fix it? I've already tried reinstalling twice.
What is the Windows or Linux equivalent to Automator/AppleScript?
Lucas Cox
This are some that I always had and couldn´t find a proper answer. >Anyway of connecting a PS3 "display" so it shows on my monitor via HDMI/USB, or is it imposible? >Can I somehow modify and connect it both PC and PS3 System to work together as as sole system and share resources and stuff without much "tech-knowledge"?
Just do a deepsearch and filter by pinterest. You literally wont see anything from else where and you can remove duplicates before downloading.
Dylan Ross
PC-98? Stripper club.
Evan Jackson
How do I deal with vague jobs? I'm basically an intern right now, so often I'll get "jobs" where I'm basically told >we want to do something with X >go find out and do something with it to which I basically just read a bunch of textbooks, tutorials and research papers and eventually shit out something, they clap their hands and move on. Maybe it gets used maybe it doesn't but now they have cloud/bigdata/buzzword
and I just feel absolutely miserable doing this and I don't know what to do. i like having a set job and requirements, i like having something I know I should be doing and doing it. I don't know what to do with this vague crap, especially when i'm essentially told to just go learn something and make something vague.
anyone have advice on how to deal with this?
>display on monitor its literally just plug it in user. your monitor is essentially the same as at.v.
>sole system and share resources not easily, i think it might be possible, but not with no tech knowledge.
Matthew Howard
>Possible >Impossible outside theory, latency is the problem
Lucas Morris
i have the opportunity to buy a (used) R730 for like $1000. how feasible is it to have something like this at home, bearing in mind i rent a double room in a shared house
Ryan Adams
I'll probably do this but I don't understand what changed. Before, all I had to do was ctrl+C links and Jdownloader would grab them and download all the relevant images on its own. Now I have to past in each link manually, and it literally downloads every image it finds, website favicons included. I want to know if something changed with jdownloader or with pinterest.
Cooper Johnson
Okay so this just basically copies the HDD bit by bit to the next one and will clone everything right?
Nicholas Baker
Its jdownloader, shit fucks up all the time for no reason, you just have to deal with it
Eli Davis
>i rent a double room What does this mean? That shit is going to be loud, and suck a lot of power. I'd recommend trying to resell it if the specs are good, and use the money you made to build a quiet NAS.
Kevin Jones
is there anyway i can bridge my wifi connection on my laptop to a really old pc over ethernet on linux? maybe through network manager? for some reason i cant install nm-connection-editor on gentoo
Gabriel Butler
That'd be the idea.
Mind, if you're not trying to copy the system over, ya don't have to jump through so many hoops. Though if you're trying to get anything out of the users folder (like old documents) you may have to take ownership first.
Leo Morgan
I guess. I kind of wish i could revert to an older update of jdownloader, even just to check where the problem is.
Lucas Butler
How old? Commodore 64, Vic-20, Amiga, TSR-80, and the like are all pretty thoroughly emulated.
Robert Fisher
Find a script that you can parse a pinterest link to and have it download, i ant imagine one dosent exist given the plethora of tools for other social media and even google its self using keywords or hashtags
Juan Taylor
Is there a way to get the 2013 version of Microsoft OneNote? The 2016 version forces you to sign in and Microsoft wiped out all of it's links to the 2013 version.
Julian Bell
that general era, yeah. any particular emulators you recommend? platform isn't an issue, i'm just looking for most accurate
Isaiah Green
>Just plug in it, user If it was that easy, I wouldn´t be asking this, I mean I can personally connect the wires and else, but I don´t find a way to see it.
Connor White
another question but what about these kind of files
I use MESS myself. Accuracy is really more on the ROM's end of things than the emulator's, when you go that far back.
Ryan Carter
If you have a 2 MB video file, with ~10 seconds of clip, then you use mpv or whatever player you have to get a screenshot of a frame. When the png screenshot comes out at 2.3 MB(at same resolution), am I getting bamboozled? How does a single frame from a 10 second, 24fps video clip have larger file size? There would be 240 frames in that video. Ideally it would be ~8 KB of data per frame. So where does the 2.3 MB png file come from?
Anthony Campbell

should I upgrade to windows 10 or keep 8.1?

So I'm a stupid DIY kit monkey. Don't really know anything about electronics other than Ohm's law. I pulled out an old synth kit I had failed to build because I had a short from 5v to gnd. I decided to take a crack at it, and fixed the short. None of the analog sections of the board work, though. Could the short have resulted in burnt out ICs? I've probed the signal directly from the IC pins responsible for producing waveforms, but they're silent. The ICs are getting the correct voltages though.
Logan Jones
then your monitor is shit. any monitor with an hdmi hookup (basically all of them now) should be able to take any hdmi connection, its just a screen.
