Why don’t you use a FSF approved distribution?

Why don’t you use a FSF approved distribution?
Trisquel is both based and comfy as fuck.

No drivers

You don’t need proprietary drivers on the right computer
>Install trisquel mini on thinkpad x131e netbook
>literally just werks
>worked out better than any debian or *buntu install on the same machine
How do they do it

Attached: image.jpg (601x625, 214K)

Because the FSF are a bunch of megalomanial biggots

But I am, Parabola is comfy and Trisquel is good for newfags

But the FSF fights for your freedom and the freedom of all computer users. Don’t you like freedom? Don’t you like not being spied on?

Attached: image.jpg (128x128, 29K)

If someone is going to ask me to use a free alternative to what I already use, then said free alternative needs to be on parity or better than what I'm currently using.

I’ve always stuck with debian and *buntu derivatives so I just decided to go with Trisquel
I’ll probably give Parabola a try in the future. Are you using systemd or openrc version?

Because I need proper nvidia binary drivers if I want to have a stable laptop

They're overly extreme and their GPLs are far more restrictive than the BSD licenses. As for spying, the EFF do a better job than these snobs do.

Work reasons. Vanilla Ubuntu is just easier. I do have a GuixSD installation on a partition, though.

OpenRC, almost everything works out-of-the-box but you have to install the *-openrc packages for some services like Network Manager.

I use my computer to get the job done, not to smell my own farts pretend i'm "woke" about muh evil closed source boogeyman

Silicon valley funds the EFF though. That's why their more effective.

>b-but if you just buy a new wifi card
>b-but if you just buy a radeon
>b-but if you use a laptop from the bush administration instead of a desktop
>b-but soon libre boot will work on your hardware

Because I've seen the light, user.

I get my work done with all freesoftware faggot

Sounds pretty neat tho. I’ll probaby give the openrc one a try

How’s your experience with GuixSD?

Yes, perhaps because they thought *the FSF are a bunch of megalomanial bigots*

My laptop is from 2013 and everything worked out of the box on trisquel

>I get my work done with all freesoftware faggot
failing to grasp the fact that other people have different opinions and do different things is a key trait of autism.

My notebook requires proprietary wireless drivers (Intel 7265) and I can't afford to buy a new wireless adapter right now.

I wanted to try GuixSD but I was discouraged for the number of packages they have available.

thebaffler.com/salvos/all-effd-up-levine

But I don't have a x131e

I'm not going to use some shitty drivers/worse PC for "muh freedoms".

If an OS can't work out-of-the-box on an OEM machine with 5-10 year old hardware and integrated graphics, it doesn't deserve to exist

Buy one it’s like 60 dollars used

>I can't use it therefore it's bad

>implying I'll expend 60 dollars in a notebook when mine works perfectly.
Apart of that, in my country a 60 USD notebook is usually sold at 120 USD here.

>right computer
The computer I'm using is the right computer for me.

Well yeah, that's a pretty fucking good benchmark for an operating system you stupid faggot.

The people who use it beg to differ

Attached: image.jpg (640x480, 172K)

What, all 3 users?

>chiclet keys
No, fuck you.

There are at least 10 FSF approved distros so clearly there a lot of people who can use them

>can use them != using them
Retard.

I use GuixSD on my laptop. Works for the most part. I still need to tweak it a bit though.

>GPL
>restrictive
Why do BSD cucks keep pushing this meme?

I like what RMS calls permissive licenses now. He calls them pushover licenses.

Come back when you've actually read up on the licenses

Why don't you sell me on it first, faggot?

I have, BSD is a cuck license for apple shills

>being retarded

all those color looks gay, like flag gay

>ubuntu/debian based

yeah no thanks

>being a cuck

>based
Um, what are you saying it is based on? Finish the sentence.

You're embarrassing yourself

I am, but I will have to move to debian. Trisquel is behind in security updates and currently has vulnerable packages, including the kernel. Abrowser is godtier though.

Gr8 b8, m8

How vulnerable is it? Fug i didn’t know that

Attached: image.jpg (604x613, 209K)

tl.dr

Same could be said of

Says the cuck

>it binds you to follow specific clauses under threat of legal action
>these clauses even apply to the hardware that runs GPL software
>its not restrictive
Its restrictive as fuck because its the only way to protect the "positive rights" that GPL protects. Meanwhile, BSD is only
>I own this copyright, use it as you like,
>dont sue us if you nuclear reactor explodes
>dont say that you're the owner of this code
Literally the only positive right that BSD asserts is the copyright one. The others are resposibility renouces.
Daily reminder: Relicensensing BSD code arbitrarily as GLP is the only way you can effectively steal BSD code.

Okay, so I had gone through both the ubuntu and trisquel repos to show you how outdated trisquel's kernel was in terms of security updates, but they literally updated the kernel 2 days ago:

mirror.fsf.org/trisquel/pool/main/l/linux/

Search for "inux-image-4.4.0-137-generic_4.4.0-137.163+8.0trisquel2_amd64.deb". The point is though, they lag behind security updates since it's literally one guy in charge of the project.

>compare trisquel to ubungoo
>trisquel is ubunguu minus the non-free part
>use ubungoo just in case you will need something proprietary
The same thing with debian. If you actually care what you install and dont need non-free drivers, you can have 0 non-free packages even on an non approved distro

I'm not a batshit insane tranny.

I don’t ever need proprietary drivers
Plus the kernel of trisquel is different

Lack of graphic aesthetics. I know it's stupid but...

faggot

Daily reminder that Stallman is a communist.

Attached: commieshill.jpg (640x426, 73K)

>adding extra license terms is bad not because of their content, but because they require you to obey them
Ok sure, but BSD isn't even GPL-incompatible, which you mention in your post...
>by the way, adding positive rights to BSD code is stealing, adding negative rights is not
Oh right. How many times do we have to hear you people say this?

>How’s your experience with GuixSD?
Decent. It has all my normal programs I use in the Guix pkg repo. Getting the hang of installing was a fun time, I love GNU Guile. Ran into all the standard issues with a FSF backed OS. Getting a custom kernel up and running was a pain as the community shuns blobs (understandably).

Not him, but GuixSD will be installed on my trisquel laptop as soon as it supports LVM+LUKS (or equivalent).

t. non-apache 2.0 licenese brainlets

why doesn't the FSF hire more people to work on Guix or trisquel? I'm sure they have the money.

I would use a FSF approved distro on a server

GuixSD has been used for higher performance computing. Do it.

anything is better than gpl, even public domain or no license
there's no "freedom" in it
it's also what attracts the corruption to it

>GPL is not free!!
once you get over the idea of proprietary software than you will see that this isn't the case
>no license is better than GPL!!
you literally don't understand what copyright is

I use GuixSD and it's great. FSF-approved, no systemd, functional package management.

Trisquel/parabola/guixsd for newfags. Install gentoo + gnome 3.30 openrc

Because the FSF doesn't approve of BSD licensed software

That means the distro won't be free anymore

Oh but I do.
And what these guys are doing with package management and system configuration is unironically the future of all operating system design - Step up and join us ASAP, I refuse to go back and you will too.
