For a while. I moved to Jow Forums too. I visit Jow Forums occasionally for making a couple of racist remarks.

I'm using xubuntu because it's just werks.

I am black and do that too to stir chaos in threads, sometimes in the opposite direction

>using arch
I don't have a reddit account. Gentoo or gtfo faggot.

*for a good while

I'm not overweight.

It's very 2ch

Maby actual work to do

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to install Arch. The wiki is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of computer science most of the steps will go over a typical users head.

Why do faggots put stickers on their computer? It screams insecurities and special snowflake disorder.

Gaming on Linux is still a joke

>Gaming is srs business and very important

I'd rather use Gentoo or Debian.

Arch is trash.

>he wiki is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of computer science most of the steps will go over a typical users head.
Wtf? The arch install article in their wiki is super handholding.

It's a rick and morty reddit copypasta that he changed to fit the thread. Lurk moar.

Unstable fucking garbage that can't even test their shit for basic usability.

Enjoy having everything suddenly not work after an update. Happened to me one too many goddamn times in a very short time span forcing me to manually roll back to the last version of those packages and that was fucking it for me. It used to be a lot better but they've fucking gone off the deep end lately and it's not even worth considering.

You've just answered to yourself.

I don't use Arch because I'm not a redditnigger.

>It screams insecurities and special snowflake disorder.
I love how the typical kiddo contrarian answer to pretty much everything in life has been reduced to "wear a plain black t-shirt or you're a special snowflake attention whore hipster pickle rick reddit maga!" It's funny, but it's also kinda sad. It's like you're so against what you think is a hipster that you've literally become one yourself. I'm sure it's "layers of irony" or something.

google unixporn and find out.

Okay, I did. I found a subreddit called Jow Forumsunixporn infested with ricerfag types. Again, what does this have to do with Arch?

I use Mint because I've got shit to do

Nah, they're not.

I use arch for babies

>>Arch devs say Arch is meant to be easy to maintain for developers, not easy for end users
It's easy for both. Arch is the most stable RR distro.
>>Arch is bloated, _all_ configuration options and flags are enabled on _all_ packages
Nobody said Arch was minimalist. Arch is designed to be bleeding edge, not minimalist.
>>pacman -Syu used to break Xorg all the time, don't know if they fixed it, don't care
The updates do that, pacman is not responsible as it is merely a package manager.
>>Arch uses systemd, anything else snd you have an unstable frankenstein
There is nothing wrong with systemd.
>>to make Arch usable people had to make distros that add basic functionality, like an installer
Graphical installers are slow and tedious. Text installers are far better.
>>Arch community is toxic and elitist for no reason
Toxic is a stupid buzzword used by fragile people to deflect the arguments of people they dislike.
>>void, gentoo and slackware exist
None of those are at all similar to Arch. Do you even know anything about these distros or do you think they're the same because Jow Forums makes memes about them?
>>void: the simplicity arch advertises but doesn't possess
Void is nothing like Arch, though Arch is simpler than Void for the user.
>>gentoo: the customisability and control arch advertises but doesn't have
Arch isn't about customisability.
>>slackware: teaches you about linux, something Arch supposedly does but actually doesn't
Nobody claims Arch teaches you about the kernel, you don't even have to touch the kernel in Arch.

rms refuses to wear shirts with logos or branding. I will take his advice. But he also puts stickers on his laptop, so I do that as well. My Thinkpad R50e has GNU and InfoWars stickers on it.

I actually like arch, it's fast and simple enough, been running it for a year and a half now and it never broke on me once.
At least not if the couse wasn't me beeing stupid.

t. Archfag

faggot detected

Archfags match the classic reddit user archetype: attentionwhoring, pseudointellectualism and the need of peer approval. Meanwhile they snicker and smug at people they consider their inferior.

Been unironically using Arch for over a year and, no problems at all because I READ the release notes before updating.
However, I'll admit, it's not as comfy as Debian.

>There is nothing wrong with systemd.
yes. there is.

>However, I'll admit, it's not as comfy as Debian.
Then why aren't you using Debian?

>>to make Arch usable people had to make distros that add basic functionality, like an installer
installers suck ass, break and fuck your shit up
whiners like you should kys for all the nerves your installers cost me

implying void is not a pita and a meme

>pushing to unify basic configuration between Linux distros while still offering a choice for those who really want to be autistically different
This seems great to me

Poe's Law in full force

Attached: 1345135814340.jpg (800x800, 349K)

When will Archfags stop pretending that it's hard to install?

NixOS, Slackware, and Gentoo are all better options.

It's the best mechanical keyboard for this price I could buy for this price. And razer mouse pad I got for free so why not use it?
I don't play any games, I just wanted comfy keyboard for programming.

>for this price I could buy for this price
it's clearly broken

Covering your laptop with stickers does look childish and stupid. A couple stickers is fine and can be a decent conversation starter if you're too shy to just talk to people.

Don't worship rms too much. He's done a lot of good but lord almighty is he fucking ever out of touch with reality.

Because I know how to install Gentoo

It's always funny watching you losers complaining about toxic community in Jow Forums of all places.

>use spaghetti programs written by mouthbreathers
>break every time they try to fix shit
>hurr Arch is shit
holy shit the IQ of this board must be horrendous

>fucking pacman

Attached: 1529754269308.jpg (500x680, 40K)

Nobody whonuses it does. It's easier than any graphical installer.

i use gentoo

>Don't worship rms too much. He's done a lot of good but lord almighty is he fucking ever out of touch with reality.
No he isn't. Give me five examples of this.

i don't use it because i don't care about having a "perfect" linux installation with as few packages as possible and "0 bloat". it's not that i can't install arch, i had my own arch phase at one point. eventually you'll realize that if you just want a decent linux distro with all the common things you need already there for you it doesn't matter if there's some other shit left on the side. just use whatever works, distro choice is arbitrary

Why do these descriptions always also match Jow Forums to the letter?

It's a royal pain in the ass. Every update breaks something and I'm realizing it's a distro made for neets who have time to "fix" it for hours on end because they have nothing else to do. I don't have time to spend on all that shit because I actually have a career, so the Arch machine is my "fun" laptop and now I've gone back to using my MBP for actual work.

>implying that everybody on Jow Forums and Jow Forumseddit doesn't use Zen installer

Well so you basically you make something what most graphical installers have. But the diffrence is it has preconfigured settings so even if its god for you, it is not universal.

Instalers are basicali scripts you meant but with posibilities of changing settings and being more universal.

>*Pacman bites xorg.conf*
This will never happen, moron.
Three reasons:
1. xorg doesn't include an xorg.conf
2. arch doesn't patch upstream packages unless absolutely necessary.
3. If above failed, pacman doesn't overwrite config files, it'd create an xorg.org.pacnew

And this is why you are clueless about Arch and talking off your ass.

Proof?

pacman creates pacnew files if the existing conf file has bee edited.

Arch is a meme distro for retards who think they're cool because they use command line tools.

Attached: ring.jpg (900x900, 47K)

what's dumb about updating the package db and packages afterwards?

what's wrong with vanilla poweroff/reboot?

Besides that using yy instead of y isn't needed, but I won't go into it since everyone and their mother does it, why oh why would you split it in 2 commands instead of using -Syyu ?

systemd does more shit so it shuts down properly this way, but this could be old information I haven't changed it in a long time.

I have had to do yy in the past in certain cases, so I just do it every time now (I dont update often anyway)
>why would you split it in 2 commands instead of using -Syyu
didn't know this was possible, thanks
