Package selection and the defaults they ship with matters. Like if you want a plain vanilla desktop as upstream intended it, but your distro wont provide it, or your distro is missing packages that is important to you. A distro might also focus all their time and effort into making GNOME their best DE option, making packages for other DEs not updated as much, or might have lower quality.

I'm on Fedora currently, but would like to switch to Ubuntu so I can get the package selection that I want. Fedora is missing some, and I'm not going to spend time maintaining my own when I can simply switch to a different distro (shouldn't take long since all my settings are stored in my /home, and I rarely touch stuff in /etc unless I have to).

Sometimes virustotal will point you towards a previously done scan (and sometimes totally unrelated) depending on the filetype you upload. This happens mostly when you try to upload a .app file or something. Try uploading each file individually.
