XMPP over TLS encourages the users to connect from monitored networks.
We might add support for it in the future but it really is an awful solution to a bigger issue.
It should be the user's duty to have a decent network connection, non monitored and without filtered ports.

XEPs are much more of a terrible mess, whether for users or server admins (or developers I would guess but I haven't tried).
Last time I checked, the only client that could handle the features of a modern messaging services was Conversations and it was only for mobiles and still lacked voice chat.
Dino on desktop looks good enough these days though. Maybe that is alright.
