So why is no one talking about this? I'm just learning about it, and this seems pretty scary that there is a weapon out their that no one seems to know what it is.
Any guesses from the geeks here what tech would cause this? The articles say microwaves, but even they don't know that for sure.

That's how much we don't know about these new weapons. They were called sonic attacks at first because there is no way to know what was happening to these diplomats getting concussions for no reason.
It seems the US is starting to get close to figure it out and their best guess right now is microwaves being used as the weapon. Doesn't mean we know what tech is being used.

if this was real and the US wanted they could get undeniable evidence within 48 hours guaranteed (think sensors, measurements, video recording). if they don't it's 100% because of diplomacy.

No, they're two different things even if in theory they can cause the same physical effects. One works through mechanical waves (sound) at a non audible frequency (ultra or infra sound) and the other works by radiothermically heating a subject a given amount of times per second using a modulated microwave beam, thus causing periodic expansion and contraction akin to a mechanical wave.
This is actually very well understood stuff and easily measurable with off the shelf equipment (albeit expensive for the average citizen I guess).

Well if you read the articles they state that they said that they think it could be those two also. They just don't know, but it seems to be microwaves to them.
Never said they were the same thing as microwaves just that they have no idea in the end.
