bump

Are there any keycaps/keyboards that have the bottom row, R1, that is convex? I think Dell and Apple used to make keyboards that had R1 slightly convex so you can thumb the keys without hitting the edges.
I think this is fucking cool and I wonder if anything like this exists today... i.e. that's being made.
Why isn't this more popular?

Pic related... best I could find of what I mean.

Attached: 1529405713990.jpg (600x489, 34K)

That looks more like the pcb curving makes the keycaps look like it is curved.

They are technically being made. Hexgear x1, but it isn't curved.

I always wanted a editing keyboard like that.

>That looks more like the pcb curving makes the keycaps look like it is curved.
No, the bottom row is definitely convex. This is the Dell keyboard with the convex R1.

oh ok got ya. Don't think there is one with mx switches. However, if you are looking for an alps board the at101w, which is probably in your basement right now, is a good one.

Attached: at0101w.jpg (1600x889, 156K)

out of curiosity, why do you like bottom curved rows? I never liked the at101w's bottom curved row. Feels uncomfortable.

Oh wow... nice. Wasn't aware of that one.
>out of curiosity, why do you like bottom curved rows?
I often use the keyboard with my left hand while my right hand is on the mouse. Hitting modifiers with thumb becomes uncomfortable after a while.
Also, notice that the spacebar is also convex.

After some searching, I did find some convex keys but they're for some ergo keyboard and probably won't fit regular ones... pic related.

Had to fucking go naver and google translate on a korean craigslist to buy this shit. Hope it is worth it. Got it for like 200 dollars.

Attached: 104uk.jpg (1280x711, 173K)

I don't need another keyboard
I don't need another keyboard
I don't need another keyboard
But I want it.

Attached: don't need another.jpg (1920x1080, 201K)

>But I want it.
Then you need it.

Attached: 20161130_185506.jpg (4032x3024, 3.59M)

Keyboard blockers are the stupidest thing in the world. People with jobs actually use those you know...

Attached: bvvlocker.jpg (1080x1080, 97K)

I never thought I would need a half grey half blue keyboard in my life.

Is the GMMK TKL worth it?

I'd prefer something with some lighting, hot-swappable switches, and aluminum casing.

ye... unless you wanna shell out 100 more for a k-type or ctrl keyboard

I hear that some keys are extremely loud. Is this true?

.... depends on the switch. What do you mean?

I mean the stabilizers are very loud on the board. Is that true?

Oh yeah, they can be rattly, but it is not something lube cannot solve. I would just spend 10 more dollars to get oem cherry stabilizers to fix that issue.

If that's what you want then buy a zhuque, I love mine and it was significantly cheaper.

I like it, but I just don't like the logo honestly. I had a magicforce for a long time and after a while, the logo became annoying.

I would get the CTRL but I have no idea when more will be made.

Zhuque has qc issues and the TKL version is not detachable. GMMK is the better option.

CTRL variants are not gonna come out in awhile. They already ran a 2 variants of the CTRL keyboards already.

Wait until kono store makes the RE:Type. It was supposed to take orders this September, but it got pushed back

Attached: retype.jpg (600x450, 47K)

I see, any word on when they'll take orders?

no idea, apparently their engineering team found a huge flaw, but they never announced what it was.

Kono is great though. I ordered 2 CTRL keyboards and a K-type and I am still going to buy RE:Type.

I notice people who don't show any interest in mechanical keyboards or don't have any hobbies are just porn addicts who only use a computer for jacking off.

That is a pretty condescending assumption and generalization user...They mainly use it to shitpost probably

.... Although I noticed most people that buy mechanical keyboards are programmers. Never got that. I guess they make money and type all day that they want a keyboard that helps them type all day.

Can you guys please contribute to this drop... :/ I want it and they need 100 people for it to be possible. We are around 18 short.

Attached: alt.jpg (473x315, 26K)

Looks gay

doesn't look that bad to me. Hot-swappable high profile case.

It's a lot of money. I'd go with the Whitefox.

another angle. Looks pretty... if there wasn't a stupid diffuser in the center it would be perfect.
Prices are similar with the white fox. Whitefox does not come with switches. You can choose an option to remove the switches and get a similar price

Attached: really.png (870x495, 755K)

I need a mech that has a full numpad but takes up as little desk space as possible
t. medical biller

It's a nice keyboard, but I got tired of that layout. Had to spend an extra 25-40 dollars for different shift key; wasn't a fan of that.

I was just gonna get a silver one and put whitefox keycaps on them... I guess I can see where the shift might be an issue. Is it not the same size as a 1800 shift?

just get a split ortholinear and map a numpad to a layer

My boi vinny can hook you up. Custom numpads with lights or whatever if you want them. Just tell vinny and he will make it.

aliexpress.com/item/anonisacuck-dataentry-fag-akamedicalbiller/32812732361.html

He wants one that takes up little space user... Why would she want a keyboard that she is going to use half of.

what does this mean
I don't want a separate numpad, just 1 keyboard
I am a boy

Shut the fuck up boy. Your mom wanted a girl and she is getting a girl.

Also in all seriousness, It might be better to get a seperate numpad + 60% if it is space issues.

There are also an FC980m. It is slightly smaller than a fullsize, but it is marketed as a compact.

You're right my mom did want a girl and sometimes I do wish I was a cute girl.
Space isn't an insurmountable issue, I just want a 104 key mech that doesn't take up as much space as the Ultra Classic I was considering.
That Leopold looks nice I will check it out thanks user.

Why isn't the Magicforce 49 mentioned here more often? I love this layout and the keycap compatibility is surprisingly good. Going to buy some DSA caps to get it down exactly but in the meantime I really like this board.

Attached: photo_2018-10-05_12-46-37.jpg (960x1280, 91K)

Cause that layout is very unusual. Also 60% is the lowest I can go. Sorry bud.

No it isn't, not in terms of 40% keyboards. Usually they're ortholinear or get rid of common keys out of nowhere. No idea what you're talking about.

It's a much smaller shift. When you order a set of keycaps, you need to order an extra modifier set. It's like 25-40 dollars more.

40% keyboards are not that common though. That is the thing. Certainly not to the degree of TKL or 60%.

They are in this general, which is the context I was clearly speaking in.

It's a special shift, I believe it's size 1.75.

Well that is because we are enthusiasts and in the context of this general there is a very vocal minority that hates anything under 60%. Usually that one fag who calls everyone gay for using a small keyboard. Never got that

Anyone picking up the KOYU? I'm trying to decide between that and a TX60.

jesus christ the IQ level of this general. why are you thinking I'm suggesting using one half a split keyboard? use it like a normal keyboard and then when you want a numpad you can map it using a thumb key changes one side to a numpad. it will use less space this way

I kinda gave up after getting my DUCK and realizing that it types the same as my fc980m. Sold it and never looked back. I don't know man, I feel like those things are just super overpriced.

I thought she was asking only for a numpad. Had to doubletake. My b.

That's a good point. My current build is a TOFU frosted acrylic with box reds and it feels great. I think I just want one of the high end boards because they're expensive and somewhat exclusive,

Cause aesthetics.
And vintage keyboards didn't have winkeys.

Literally only reason

I mean the resell value on those things are basically 1:1. You are guaranteed to get your money back. If you really want one, you can try it by buying it

Maybe I'll just pull the trigger then. It's pennies compared to my mtg collection anyway. Which do you think is a better buy, TX60 or KOYU? I was leaning towards the TX since I'm not sure if I want hot swappable.

KOYU to be honest. Rama has a way better REP and hotswappble is not a meme, it is a godsend.

Get a Leopold 980m

Box Pale Blue or Box Royal?

Pale blues are pretty much nonexistent due to box navy. Box Royal

I'm leaning towards the Royal at the moment, it feels a lot better, but I just wish it clicked as loud as the Pale Blue. I've got both in a keytester.

if it were programmable i'd totally into it. there was a GH group buy for a PCB that could fit but i'm terrible at hardware. and lazy.

box tactiles start to click (unevenly and not loud) eventually according to user testimonials. Box navies click loud and are more tactile, seems like the best of both worlds.

What does /g think of the Belkin Nostromo N52? I used to use it for gaming but then busted it out and started using it with vim for doing shit that doesn't require typing like shitposting but mostly just browsing and media consumption. Has 3 programmable modes for all of the buttons.

Attached: belkin n52n.jpg (474x355, 13K)

I wish they made the koyu in low profile, I will stick with my z70 pro for now.

Whats a good brown switch keyboard thats reasonably priced?

>good
>brown switch

Attached: smug trump loli.png (782x782, 376K)

it doesn't exist. brown switches, like the name suggests, are shit.
go get a real switch.

Ergo keebs are a massive scam. And they're dangerous too. Stay away from that snake oil.

Attached: 1531091879812.png (952x1044, 86K)

looks gay

>thinks a gamepad is an ergo keyboard

Attached: 1530926217849.jpg (331x453, 45K)

Anything but Browns.

Ergo keyboards are comfortable, it doesn't take a fucking doctor to see that lightly moving your fingers while resting your hand in a natural shape is less effort than contorting your fingers across a staggered (for purely historical reasons) layout with a shitty letter arrangement.
But anybody using ergo keyboards as a medical aid is a retard, you don't fucking buy a more comfortable couch to treat back pain or better fitting shoes to treat leg joint problems. That doesn't mean the better shoes or luxury couch aren't comfortable or worth getting. (With some obvious exceptions - the datahand in particular is more of a collector's item than something you'd genuinely buy to use.)

It is the same size as 1800 shift yes, 1.75u right shift is the standard for shorter right shifts

Battlecruiser Keyboards... why aren't they popular anymore? Would you buy a new one if someone make another one again?

Attached: 1538289173845.jpg (1012x1200, 258K)

Probably because people barely even use the single function row that's still around, let alone one or two more rows.

because there's only three keyboard layouts that matter to mainstream consumers

fullsize, tkl and 65%

These keyboards were genuinely useful back when you had to have minimally trained clerks quickly operating a business application with a text interface. Advances in technology made them obsolete.
GUI's and touchscreens are widely available these days, which means that you can give the peons an even more productive and flexible interface using standard hardware. Even point-of-sale systems and industrial machinery are starting to embrace this.
Meanwhile, power users can make better use of standard keyboard keys, since they're more accessible than a separate function key row, and they're not tied to a peculiar keyboard model which could die out.

Buy my gf a white anne pro 2 with gateron browns?

What about hako royals?

Attached: I like retro.png (1030x1742, 2.96M)

As an expert on your girlfriend, I think she might prefer something a little... bigger

Patrician layout.
Everyone else is a fag.

And black.

Thanks Jamal, nearly made a mistake.

You're welcome

gamer shit btfo

I've had one for around a year and like it quite a bit. Not sure if it really provides any real advantage over any comparable keyboard, but it looks and feels nice and it lets you set up colors and shit without installing any software, which is nice. I haven't even bothered swapping the switches, I like the stock browns (I think they're Kalih?) more than the Cherry versions I'd had before them.

What's the best gaming mechanical keyboard???

The Skydigital NKEY-R3 RGB

Attached: IMG_20181006_124638.jpg (3968x2976, 2.23M)

I'm an adult

Attached: 1536898334350.jpg (3024x3024, 424K)

I'll buy my first mechanical keyboard in a few weeks.
I was thinking about TADA68 with Gateron Blue Switches, altough I'm hesitant. Choice would be between Blue/Brown/Green.
Any advice? Did someone own a TADA68?

i just dont understand keycaps like this. i honestly dont. they always look so vapid and uneffay

Gaming keyboards don't exist. I know this may come as a surprise, but rainbow lights don't make you better at video games. The best gaming board is something with good weight and switches that you like. Personally I game on a DZ60 with a TOFU case with box reds and some cheap PBT keycaps

>Swapped Gateron blues in my keyboard for Cherry Blues
Not sure why people don't like cherrys. They grow on you. They feel weak at first but the more you use them the better they feel and sound.

Attached: v60.jpg (3997x2984, 637K)

Has anyone here ever taken apart a Duckey Shine 6?
I got all the screws out, the only instructions I found online now say to just “pry apart with a credit card“ and I have no idea how to do that
Couldn‘t any videos of someone doing it either

so how do buckling spring keyboards hold up against modern stuff?

Attached: 1530111226277.png (1010x476, 808K)

Capacitive buckling springs are some of the best keyboards in existence
