>soundcard
nope, outputting to Dolby Atmos receiver

so where from digital audio signal comes to your receiver?

Still using an old Xonar DG. It's not even that good and has some driver issues but the onboard shit hisses and the Xonar doesn't.

I love it.

Used for a couple of years, until I got high impedance headphones recently.
And it is noticeably better then built-in AMD 970 chip.

So is there a difference in sound if you add one of these cards compared to my onboard audio if I use some "regular" headphones and speakers?

>all this gaymen trash
I bet you can't even clock your cards externally to reduce jitter, fucking plebs. Mine has been modded with bipolar caps on the output, too.

>2010+8
>internal sound PCI extension cards

fuck you nibber, your audio card is trash, get a real one that is external or produces 96000khz

this

its mainly trash because its via, but no card in existence can produce 96000khz

:^)

Ummmm sweaty... The DAC is an Asahi-Kasei...

Lol, any realkek is better than that snek oil scamware.

I think this but the 1998 model that's not so squished.

creative went to shit when they droped the EMK chip and stoped making them in singapore.

you can still run these cards with open source KX driver thats included on Linux and has a windows and mac download. thou ive been having trouble using it with a PCI to PCIE adaptor got it detected but it makes metalic sounds not sure if its software problem or hardware problem of the adaptor there are some russian guys on the KX forum fixing this kinda shit.

sounds amazing and the KX driver unlocks every card with this EMK chip to sound just as good as the studio grade audigys of the era beacuse they where just software locked from higher processing rates.

also using this KX driver makes it do the sound on chip and not use shitty software sound like 100% of the soundcards today that are literally just software dacs with amplifers on the card.

Jds labs element. Better than Schiit

bought it second hand a few years ago for $50, still happy with it

its via envy 24 chip, its clealy visible in the pic

I got a Asus Maximus VIII impact motherboard.

is its soundcard actually any good you can remove it and ill have to to make space for ITX cooler but wondering if getting a pin extention cable for it so I can tuck it away some where els and still use it is worth it. or would I be better with a real soundcard/dac?

its Asus SUPREME FX IMPACT 3 sound card what ever that is.

this bad boy

Attached: Audigy-2-ZS.jpg (3000x1893, 1.12M)

that card was made after creative moved manufacting out of Singapore and changed away from their proprietary EMK chip

its shit. throw it in the trash the OG Audigy that use EMK chip or OG soundblasters that use EMK chip that you can unlock to have Audigy processing rate are like 1000% better than it.

you got brand jewed.

Why would anyone be using a add-in PCI sound card in [current year]?

Just get an external USB DAC/AMP like the ODAC or one of the emotiva ones.

Attached: m9XX-3.jpg (950x631, 112K)

i cant i dont have a found card.

yes, if your motherboard happens to have ALC887/ALC892/ALC1150 audio codec installed

yep and the motherboard coupled with this sound card is from 2018

>any realkek is better than that snek oil scamware.
>faketek vel realtrash ALC887/ALC892/ALC1150 "better"
go away peasant

That chip does the PCI to digital audio conversion. The AKM AK4528VF does the ADC/DAC duty.

>internal audio card
>all that noise
lol retard getting kiked out of money

Attached: drivers are shit but build is good.jpg (1200x750, 171K)

i also have three audigy1 cards. but what the hell is emk chip?

I can't hear any noise coming from it even at high gain on my preamp. But hey, if you say it sounds bad, it must sound bad.
He was probably referring to the E-MU 10k-based chips those cards are built upon. They're very good if you replace the output opamps (or use the rear channel output) and all you need is 16/48.

Ht omega claro plus

>says the nunale buying overpriced meme crap
Stop projecting basedboi

Onboard audio presumably. There is literally no reason not to use onboard, even if the DAC sucks, if you're using a digital output.

>what is jitter
Though I have never heard about onboard audio with bad jitter on it's digital outputs, but audiophools usually justify buying meme crap on grounds of muh jitter

The built in motherboard sound has been good enough that sound cards became irrelevant an entire decade ago.

Even recording studios and shit just plug directly into their macbooks so who are you even trying to kid?

I also have the analog version of this weird butt plug thing somewhere

I don't even remember why I ended up with both of them

Attached: Abit UA11.jpg (355x286, 9K)

so i guess he's refering to emu10k2.5 then. audigy1 had emu10k2 and live cards emu10k1

It says shit
Hahaha so funny guys
And I only paid $500

Attached: _20181003_153136.jpg (720x719, 68K)

they already lasted me more than a year, and will probably last another 5-10 years, quality product, longer than most iphones, pixels and similar only $999 crap here,

>paying 500$ for a placebo

i tried to buy one but they are rare
so i got the ASUS Essence STX II

adi-2 pro

My $100 mobo's sound chip is still working fine after 5 years bitch boi

They have solved all that by using asynchronous USB ports. In fact, most of the good Chinese DAC/Amps its preferred to use USB with the Asynchronous port because it will have a higher sampling rate over a cheaper optical input.

So what's a good sound card for under 25$? compatible with PCI+PCIE a moba that runs with LGA 775?

Attached: native-instruments-audio-4-dj-1519843.jpg (1000x750, 78K)

A lot of expensive product shots, not enough actual users.

Fucking poser ass LARPers.

Just show us your AD18s and let us laugh at your dirty amp with terrible DAC.

Sounds great desu

it sounds like shit though

In that price range?

Behringer UCA202.
30 bucks for a decent DAC and headphone amp. With higher than shit tier drivers.

>What is compression

via bluetooth? horrible

whats it hooked up to

Asus Xonar DG
No idea why I bought it, but it was only $30.

I wanted to play around with mashups on linux so I installed the audio software and picked a supported chipset CMI8738, then bought a dirt cheap card from aliexpress. It works flawlessly, just not with the software. such is life.

i use this for recording but occasionally it dies when listening to shit on youtube (?) so i just use my integrated realshit for day to day stuff.

I use the focusrite scarlett 2i2. I like to make music sometimes, so this a nice interface for my budget. Wish I could blow a ton of cash on some high-end speakers but not today.

I always thought their logo looked like a crab.

hmm pretty solid choice.

Xonar DX

can someone tell me why you would ever need an external box instead of a soundcard?

is it just for making music?

Realtek SupremeFX

It's realtek famalam

to put it on your desk and have a volume knob right there and a headphone jack and mic and so on, no need to crawl under your desk

Based.

but I already have active studio monitor. they have their own knob.

I have active studio monitor too and they have knobs on their backs.

Because you like cnc aluminum boxes with heavy knobs and cables pouring out of the back some even come with understated LEDs or OLED screens.

You also get better components on their own individual circuits for better sound, purpose built for either processing the digital signal or amplifying the signal or both.

You also get a "cleaner" signal using SPDIF/Optical in some instances then plugging your speakers in to the back of your PC and EM signals from your graphics card sucking down juice inches away from your sound card.

Plus, it's a fucking hobby, go fuck yourself.

>they have knobs on their backs.
yikes! mine have it on the front. some of them even have a tiny remote. But I doubt people buy these: just for the volume knob.

>Plus, it's a fucking hobby, go fuck yourself.
no need to be triggered mate, I'm genuinely asking, not criticizing.

>yikes!
I also have a pair that has no knobs, just dip switches.
usually pro audio stuff is out of reach on stands or built into the wall anyway so no one ever touches these after initial setup, volume is controlled from your interface/console/monitor controller so putting knobs in the back is common

>usually pro audio stuff is out of reach on stands or built into the wall anyway so no one ever touches
that's why I named the ones that have their own remotes.

>1.2 kilowatts for this
dude what are you doing?

Also EM interference is greatly exaggerated to sell snakeoil like cable stands, deluxe silver stranded cable or em-proof power sockets.

I'll keep that in mind when I plug my headphones in and scroll my mouse or have a constant him because other components on my cheap mother board aren't as isolated as they should be versus plugging it in to a DAC/Amp and having crystal clear sound.

My desktop sounds like shit when compared to my phone, what thing should i buy that i can plug in and it just works?
