Because I learned about all the kinds of different oils, greases and fats and their "soapiness" and in an extremely autistic forum discussion on this issue, where the conclusions was that WD40 is the worst thing you can use for this purpose.
So I picked the second worst option (Balistol) and that worked quite well.
Just keep in mind that you are not supposed to access the bearing on almost all fans, so you gotta have a plan B when you realize you can't piece it together again after taking it apart.

ballistol is fine. it's mostly paraffin oil and oelic acid.
I use lithium grease and that works like a charm for years.
