I picked this up for $30 and it's fantastic. I honestly didn't think of it when I bought it, but now I realize I can use it to watch my Mongolian basketweaving cartoons on airplanes without revealing my power level.
It's not bad desu. My PXL overheats in it though after about 30 mins and I get warnings.
Joseph Brown
Google tracks every movement your eyeball makes.
>This will make flights go by so much faster. False. Google cannot manipulate time.
Xavier Hall
VR headsets need to standardize lenses. Also needs to support easy lense switching for prescription lenses.
Benjamin James
Actually it will literally make the flight go faster because it is lighter than the alternative.
Cooper Roberts
Can I browse 4chinz with that without revealing to surrounding people that I am a autist?
Mason Morgan
It's pretty bad for text, because you're only using a portion of your phone's screen and magnifying it. Individual pixels are huge using Daydream, even though on a decent phone you can't seem them at all normally.
It's great for watching videos in private though.
Jordan Carter
>Google tracks every movement your eyeball makes. False. There's no eye tracking. Head movement, sure they track that.
Ryder Miller
Sounds like a steal, unlike my vive. I wanted to go the cheap way and bought everything used and separate, still ended up being expensive lol.
Dylan Brown
how does it compare to something like daydream?
Camden Perry
What makes you think the airplane won't increase thrust to maintain velocity?
Cooper Gonzalez
>me will be sporting chubs on long haul flights this will be the new man-spreading
I can't wait for Gen 2 to come out to rub it in your smug, retarded face.
Leo Bailey
google cardboard porn was a fun novelty, is daydream any better? Are the video player apps still shit
Nolan Cruz
The only reason why it's a gimmick is that of the lack of high quality content, and for the fact that nobody wants to spend over a grand building a decent VR setup. The trackers alone for these things cost like $80, and when you need two or more of them for an awesome experience, it starts adding up, then comes the controllers which is another $70. Then comes to content, there are some pretty badass games and demos you can try don't get me wrong, but I still don't believe they have touched the surface of it.
Eli Stewart
Daydream is quite good, and the video player apps have improved dramatically. For $30 it was a no brainer.
Brayden Sanders
What apps do you use? I've been using AAA VR cinema with cardboard and it's not bad, the interface is a pain though. Would be nice to be able to easily scrub through videos
Cameron Rogers
Try Skybox
Ian Davis
I got one of these free with my LG V30. It's an interesting novelty for about 20 minutes but the resolution just isn't there yet.
Adrian Wright
I think VR has potential, but not mainly for video games. IMO VR is all about experiencing "real life" scenarios, it really does works great for virtual tours, you get transported into another dimension. If it looks real enough I can see potential people changing how their interior looks, the HMD will be obvious and get in the way yes, but eventually I see people doing this, like the poor mans way to escape. People should be making more things like that instead of games.
Mason Wilson
Really, OP?
I put my Pixel 2 XL in it and it's severely blurry to the point of giving me a fucking headache. I barely see anything.
Noah Russell
desu that's the reason I think I'll go for a normal sized (5.5") phone over a 6/7" phone, limited budget means that the larger phone will have a lower ppi and I kinda wanna use it for vr.
Jason Ramirez
Text doesn't work well. Video's okay.
Noah Turner
I literally bought a vive hmd display only a month ago. cost me $120 on feebay. took a risk but it works. I managed to get it running with some steamvr software without the lighthouse. like one or two apps but it wont run without a lightbox for the most part. now i will need at least one base station if i want to at least try something. had to buy a linkbox for 30 dollars. now i have to get a lighthouse that costs 60 dollars used. All together $200 to get it up any running for seated play. not bad
Parker Hall
>without revealing my power level You're wearing VR in public nigga
Ian Myers
I recognize that bulge!
Kayden Baker
VR is gimmick. AR has merit.
Alexander Hughes
can't fucking wait for the Oculus Quest
Justin Ross
VR is more immersive
Kayden Evans
They're different things though one can put street directions on a road the other can take you to another world
Nicholas Ramirez
how is it more immersive?
Dominic Hernandez
Well, for one thing, VR replaces reality. Augmented reality doesn't try to replace that, they just superimpose things, which is very helpful application wise, but it won't change realities completely as VR can. Yea AR seems more powerful, but it isn't as immersive.
Nicholas Richardson
Nobody is looking at your phone dude. They're too busy looking at their phone.
