FMA literally takes place in faux-Europe, Japs don't consider them Japs. But most anime literally take place in Japland.

FFXV characters are weird unrealistic hybrids. They have light colored slanted eyes with blond hair and asian face shape. It's nomura's current style.

Well obviously not in FMA, but it depends on the anime. Sword of the Stranger has realistic depictions of Japs, with the only white character being a foreigner who speaks poor Japanese. Other animes, that take place in Japan and try to maintain some semblance of plausibility, will state that their characters either dye their hair or are 'mixed', somehow inheriting recessive traits like red hair or blue eyes some shit.
Otherwise, yea, they take fucking liberalities with their characters, because white people definitely look more interesting than Japs when it comes to superficial differences, like hair color and eye color, because face it, drawing Asians isn't interesting.

Anyway most japanese characters have big eyes and thats about it. Theres not a lot you can do to differentiate races with that basic sort of style other than different hair and skin tone.

Some artists draw a bit more realistic and add detail to the characters so their faces look a bit more asian.

It's named Mukokuseki and it means their features are meant to resemble personality traits. IE they're not caucasoid features, they look like it, but they're meant to make the character look more shy, mature, or villanous.

The Elrics live in a European-like setting and then later on it is discovered that their father is from a Middle East-like setting. So if they were real, much of their genetics would be Caucasoid.

Roy and Izumi seem the most like they could be part Asian but then again white people can still have black hair and eyes, and likely in-universe "Izumi" is'nt seen as an East Asian name but more as an odd variant of Isabel.
