What isn't wrong with gimp

GIMP is absolutely fine to do anything that a consumer who can't afford photoshop needs. If you actually need something GIMP doesn't do that photoshop does, you're almost certainly working in some sort of professional sense and can afford it as an expense.

I used to hate GIMP when I switched to Linux full-time but then I got used to it and now I find Photoshop controls weird. But I'm just an average user.

Gimp lacks in a bunch of things, it's a image editing software made by a programmer for a programmer.
Same as GUI design, you wouldn't let a programmer do a GUI and you won't let a designer program.
