Is this real?

is this real?

a botnet the size of a pencil tip.

It's irrelevant smoke and mirrors blaming the chinese for an architecture that the us intentionally made insecure. It doesn't matter whether it is real or fake.

Botnets dont need to have any physical size. Really, this entire “hack” could have been done with software only.

!No¡

probably fake, just some rando words thrown around to make it look like something big while in reality every single device has chips with obscure functionalities that no one can access besides the manufacturer, ask intel how they update the micro code.

Jesus look at these replies. This thread is fucking glowing.

How is it the fault of the architecture? The design was modified before production to add a chip that modifies data as it goes in and out of RAM.

>the microchip altering the OS core
nice CSI Miami shit you got there bro

the same governments that allowed a monopoly on cpu architectures so long as they were backdoored (intel ME, amd psp) left themselves vulnerable to coercion by disallowing independent secure manufacturers.

This hack has nothing to do with Intel ME or AMD PSP. This is adding a completely new hardware backdoor by modifying the board design.

>networking, memory, and processor all in the size of an smd capacitor

doubt

It's within the realm of possibility. AFAIK it just sits on a bus, sniffing the traffic and injecting its payload when it detects the portion of code that it wants to modify is being loaded for execution.

doesn't seem that far-fetched, your entire reproductive system fits in the same space

haha penis is smol

Idiot.
Glowies would just blame it on China with or without evidences. Bad press for China is a good thing for them.

>alter the operating system's core
what did they mean by this

>t. Brainlet

In those small form factors you have very little GPIO pins to work with. Remember that they said these chips have network capabilities

America with its affirmative action coders and pajeets won't be able to compete with chinks in few decades.

i think they mean to say they hacked into the mainframe with a backhand reverse white hat montblanc bruteforce simulation invention of high end gaming computer megakeygen and altered its core

>network capabilities
If they're sending info straight to China, wouldn't it get detected during US' hardware testing and shit?

>this thread
Shit, it's like I'm seeing the Chinese crossing the North Korean border all over again

It works by hijacking the glowies existing botnet.

The thing is it doesn't need to be super capable. You're not trying to smash Prime95, you're trying to get basic capabilities for compromising a system in there. It's not that far-fetched. Think about how much computer there is in a slice of your desktop's CPU that size.

read some of the threads about this on hackernews. this is possibly a valid attack vector. did this happen the way bloomberg is saying it happened... thats far more interesting.
