Games, of course.

Watching my older brother masturbate to porn.

I used to make cracks and cheats for games.
Then I spent a lot of time modding GTA games and others at that time.
Slowly got into software developing.
Realized what a fucking cancer patent system and Microshit is.

Now I'm a hard-core freetard with neckbeards. But I work in a company that uses proprietary software. At least it's running on Linux.

Life is gay.

cringe & bluepilled

based & redpilled & doesnt glow in the dark

Lack of friends

This, and whether they want to admit it or not, it's the same for nearly all of Jow Forums.

Well being a loser meant I spent my time inside and I guess that meant using the computer more

underageb& detected

In all fairness though, Aelita was one of my first cartoon crushes.

Fun fact: She's technically an Ayanami Rei expy.

Counter Strike 1.6

gaymen
first single player & split screen
later private LAN parties with muh friends

Zelda shit, forums guides porn and roms.

In perspective what a terrible series.

Its not that im underage, I didnt stop watching chinese cartoons until I was 15 so I relate with zoomers in this matter. Also, I only watched the first season i hated the second one where they materialised Aelita and stoped watching It.

Curiosity.I want to know how this hunk of plastic and silicon works but can't afford the classes.

The first season is the worst. The same shit over and over again.

After they materialised her permanently is where all the romance arcs start and the real story plot behins.

skifree

The plot stops making sense arter the first season. Aelita being stuck in the virtual world was what made It interesting plot-wise. The story writers had to make up an illness for her to have in order to keep up with the plot.

>rebooting the universe every episode is a "plot"

One of the most brilliant people I knew, was heavy into penetration testing and breaking things started by modding a popular online FPS game. Was apparently one of the first to crack a server in it's time. He was involved in a lot more but that's all I know about him.

Also I stoped being autistic just after the second season and I stoped watching cartoons since then. Now that i remember It I was so fucking autistic back then, I re-watched Angel Beats like 200 times. Fml

imagine having a gf in a supercomputer

world wide web

School had a commodore 64, so family bought 386 to have me teach them how to use it because "lol same thing rite?" So I taught myself DOS and win3.11 at 10 years old, then taught them. Then in 1993 we got into the Chicago beta, it was so shit that Dad bought brand new pc for family and gave me the 386, which became my first Linux box. Linux exclusively until 12/2017 when I was given a 2013 macbook air, now am macfag and idgaf.

Friends had internet connections way before I did, they talked me into it.

my dad worked in IT and always had computer stuff laying around.

Curiosity about how the web works, and the technologies behind it.

Also obligatory “Games, of course” because be honest faggot you wanted to make games too before you lost your creative side

You're French or Code Lyoko is international?

its international, it was on a mainstream cartoon network in the states for a long time

Did you suck him off?

Funny, I used to live next to the factory where the VR Machi is.

I started with making buttons in PowerPoint, then simple HTML pages with links, then button testers for the PSP in C and writing scripts for GTA: San Andreas

I would sit on my dad's lap and watch him play computer games when I was 3-4.

Jumpstart game series

It was more engaging than anything else (tv, books etc) also I lived in somewhat remote area, so didnt really meet friends after school, kids my age who lived around me were rough and I didnt hamg out with them. What do you do when you are alone at home, nothing to watch, nothing to read (I liked reading as a kid but it was more of an exercise than entertainement then), basicly nothing to do. Just start going through windows folders, opening various files with notepad, going through various settings and doing stuff like that (mind you this was win95/98 era). Its all kind of not very usefull but at home and in the office if something breaks I am the one who usually fixes it and I just do admin for the office.

I wanted to find out how executable files for games worked as a kid, but I couldn't figure it out. Eventually I took programming in high school, overcame some of my retarded assumptions and way of thinking, then somehow became good and passionate about programming.

This one. And I can remember it as if it was yesterday. Yet it was a bit more than umm, a week ago.

Code lyoko .-.

To be honest it was just because I thought vintage computers looked cool when I was a little kid.

I now have a bachelors degree in computer engineer and work as a software engineer, but I fucking hate it, and don't know what else to do for a living.

This was my first computer, it wasn't much by today's standards but it was pretty magic at the time. I remember how my dad brought two of them home when they upgraded at the big insurance company where he worked.

They had upgraded the computers on his floor and there were a ton of them sitting by the elevator when he was leaving and the elevator arrived and these guys started loading them in and dad just asked "what are you going to do with those" and they said "they are going to the dump" so he asked if he could have a few and they were like sure.
