Why it's so hard for this fuckers to update their shit?
>jdk 8 (August 2014) when 11 is out
>pandoc 1.19 (September 2017) when 2.2.2 is out
>ffmpeg 3.4.4 (July 2018) when 4.0.2 is out

These are only few examples, but they are major packages that almost everyone use and Gentoo is supposed to be a decent distro. I'm already in the testing repo just give me some updates for fuck sake.

Did you emerhe --sync ?

Are you serious?

the ffmpeg part is a lie

3.3.6 is stable, 3.4.4 is in testing and everything else is masked, so it's not even ready to be considered unstable (i.e. it has known unsolved bugs).
Call it a lie.

I want to install gnu icecat for my gentoo box but I cant find it. Can some1 help a gentoo nibba out. Emerge -s cant find it

What browser should I use senpai uwu

Layman is like AUR for Gentoo so it's even better. I'm sure you can find what you want, take a look at

OP is retarded, if you want newer versions of packages on gentoo then you specify the version you want in /etc/package.accept_keywords. You can definitely get Java 9 through portage.

Firefox nightly

WHY IS THIS FUCKING SHIT WEBSITE ALWAYS DOWN

Do you seriously run software with known bugs and shitloads of issues with other programs due to massive API changes just because muh new stuff
You can download the IceCat binary from the GNU site

>because they haven't tested it well enough to move it to stable
To testing, user. They haven't tested it well enough to move it to testing.
Java 10 is not even masked, it does not exists. Meanwhile java 11 is already stable in most distro.

>Java 9
It's 2018 and Java 11 is out. Two versions behind if you deliberately choose to use something that is not even considered ready for the testing thing (~arch).

>binary
but muh freedom

Fucking hell

>he doesn't maintain his own ebuilds
not going to make it.

mpv 2.7

You can compile it from the source distributed in the GNU site, or even make your own ebuild for it
