BEST DESK

Which one is it and why is it the Ikea Galant?

Are there even any alternatives that come close?

>Ikea
That "desk" might be good for playing cards on, but not much else. Desk+hutch is the best route. Lasts forever and won't collapse when more weight than one monitor is applied.

/diy/ a desk ffs its not hard
all you need is some L brackets, a nice surface, and 2 studs in the wall. ez minimalist desk that supports more than that cardboard ikea crap

My homemade 8' x 4' desk made of plywood and 2x4 for like $50

Just get a standard (80 or 60 x 180) fucking office desk. They are cheap, stable, durable, good looking, available with accessories for cable management. This board is so stupid

>$500+ for particleboard trash when the gerton exists
no

>Buy a wooddesk workdesk from worktopexpress.
>buy legs
Create your own high quality desktop
Avoid those 30$ plywood crap

Woodgrain finish is haram OP!.
Colours or nothing!.

Times like this I am glad I have gay men and women friends. So I can sit back and laugh at your plebian tastes.

This however is perfection. It's functionality, simplicity, and cost effectiveness will do you better than any L shaped garbage. And... it looks understated and minimalistic. Go fir the 55" if you have the space for it though.

Look for a used dining room table
They're the right height, deeper, wider, and WAY cheaper than a standard desk.

I am partial to these.

Use a door and make your own

Hey, this is excellent advice. I've always wanted a desk wider than the usual office desks, preferably without drawers. A dining table meets all those conditions
Why the fuck have I never thought of this before?

I have the gallant. it fucking sucks I can't wait to get rid of it when I move.

hivedoor
because you're an moran on 4chin

Good desk. Buy two cheap filing cabinets, go to home store and buy a door blank, bonus if it has a hole for the knob (built in cable management). Put door on cabinets, you now have a nice and large desk that is easy to disassemble and move when needed. Should cost about $100 or so depending on how nice you want the cabinets to be. Top gets old (mine is 15 years and fine) just buy another door blank.

for me, the most important aspect is how deep it is, so that I can rest my arms on the table while typing and also have the monitor further back enough

currently using ikea's cheapest desk, with cheapest legs, 140x75cm (55x30 burgers) and it's the best thing I've ever used, fits 2 monitors, 2 5in studio monitors, and still have space to rest my arms and my cup of caffeine

More like *blocks your elbow*.

What absolute trash.

I like this one a lot, but I can't buy it before figuring out how the fuck to get a monitor, mini-tower case, and cables oriented without looking like garbage.

Kind've interesting you have the music player on the big screen, what's the idea behind that?

This was taken before I hung all this shit up on the walls, put in my 2nd monitor, and ran RGB LEDs along the perimeter of the ceiling.

cozy corner

It's my safe space away from the wife and kids.

On the opposite side of the desk (basically where I'm standing and took the photo) I have about 5x10 more feet of space where I have another desk with my hot air/soldering rework station. I want to mount a 65" TV on it.

I have a Jarvis standing desk. Work from home, so being able to move up/down at will is really nice.

What do you do that requires standing? I had a standing job which is hell on your veins over long periods of time

It doesn't require standing, but I hate sitting in a chair for 8 hours. But I also hate standing for 8 hours. Being able to swap between the two on the fly is pretty comfy.

I typically sit at my desk from 9 to 11, have stand up for 15 mins, and then stay standing until lunch which is about 12:30.

Then between 1:30 and 5pm it's a mix of sitting/standing depending on how I'm feeling. I have an anti-fatigue mat that I stand on to alleviate the aches from prolonged standing.

galant is god tier

This is what it looks like in standing mode. I'm 6'3" which required I buy an extended monitor mount since most of the support poles were 6", this one is ~18" which allows me to freely move the monitors up and down from sitting/standing.

Holy shit I'm braindead.

Jokes on you, there is no cable management with office desks.

You mean stand up for 90 min? Unit symbols are not to be pluralised.

Where do you find cheap solid doors?

Lol, I just got this in the mail today and set up my room. Good call.

Mine was like 80 bucks at Home Depot

I'd get one of there plain wood dining tables, 120cm by 60sm depth I think.
Itf you need more space get 2. They're only £40 and you get to treat the wood yourself (solid pine)
I chose something like pic related myself and took out the mid lower shelf to put my pc on the low shelf.
It was 38.99 and fucken brilliant for the price.
I was going to get the bamboo table top from Ikea (looks beautiful) or that pine desk. The bamboo is semi hollow and I needed a surface that was ok to use clamping monitor brackets.on.
