All this talk about constant updates is so alien to me. The first thing I did when installing W10 was to run ooshutup10 and apply the "recommended + somewhat recommended" settings. It updates like once a year.

Any update is too many, especially when they're automatic, and double especially when the update was claimed by microsoft to be cancelled, and triple especially when they cancelled it cause the update deletes files.

Look I'd love to not have to deal with microshaft, but I have to use some proprietary software for work and I sometimes like to play some games to relieve some stress in my free time. I know I can play a lot of games on Linux nowadays, I do in fact play my favourite games on Linux (CS:GO and Rocket League). However, GTA V doesn't really work that great on Linux and it's the only game I can play with some of my family and friends as they aren't skilled at all in playing CS:GO and Rocket League.
Does this actually work without a ton of issues now?

You're still talking to MS via telemetry and connections you aren't seeing, it's still falling-back to hardcoded IP's that all of these mini-firewalls and HOSTS tricks rely on, I tried disabling that shit at the router level, and Windows thinks it's offline to the point that it kills absolutely all MS games I use through the store. This isn't just updates either, Tomato is always catching random connection attempts to any given MS server, MS demands that you are always online and always connected with 10, and absolutely no one goes for that shit considering how paranoid everyone is lately

Removing the update-centric .exe's and .dll's never used to be a huge issue because they weren't tied to the kernel in any drastic way, but now, Windows is absolutely joined at the hip to everything in the BITS service family, and you simply can't opt-out without staying offline 100% or breaking 10 entirely

Nobody who isn't on 10 now is never going to be on 10, and raytracing isn't going to be any incentive either, and developers know this, so lmao @ any publisher who sentences their release to death with words like "Windows 10 exclusive"

Just buy netlimiter bro. It's only 35$. And then set the speed limit of "Windows services" to 6 kb/s. Setting it lower has caused me lag problems in the past. You can do the same with steam, your video card software (nvidia needs like 30kb/s to function properly though) etc... Best software I ever bought, makes you wonder why Windows doesn't have something similar built-in.

Updates do nothing for security unless we're talking about Windows Defender updates, which are a seperate thing from Windows Updates.
Its more insecure to leave updates and their associated programs on, because they have system-level permissions. Fewer things that have permissions means fewer liabilities.
