I need advice on how to pick up Java

I need advice on how to pick up Java.
Good books, good tutorials, websites, etc.
I don't mind what type of content it is, I just want to go through it.
Preferably Java 8 and up.

I just don't trust those "Best 10 Java books of all time" articles.

Also any books related to programming in general is welcome as well.

Here's a free book:

Oracle tutorials:

Java Brains on Youtube is okay

Can't be bad to learn it I guess. A lot of companies use it.

Thank you. I'll look into it.

Thank you, user. I already knew about the oracle tutorials, but not about that book.

It's easier to exploit java than C.

Don't do head first java, it's painfully slow and made for people who never touched a computer. Read the java programming language by Sun Micro

>Head First Java
Yeah I fucking hated that book

t. never programmed in his life

It's,...the best. The only thing bad about it is nullpointerexception

This playlist is pretty good for basics, and i like the instructor's calm voice.

C can literally do anything java can if not better, try again

Java is for retards that need a compiler to do everything for them

Introduction to Java Programming by Y. Daniel Liang is what I used to learn, pretty good, pedagogical book with plenty of examples and exercises.

>imagine being this delusional

>javatards defending their bloated language

you're the same retards that will say that only babies and retards use ubuntu because it "holds your hand too much". That's the point of evolution you fucking retards, I don't work in embedded systems and I don't give a fuck about rewriting an entire REST api in C while there's all the libs I need in Java. Also once again, you sound like people who never programmed for companies before. Work life is not like Jow Forumsunix_porn, nobody gives a fuck abiut your asm x86 hello world program, companies want actual work done and they want it delivered fast. Eclipse Enterprise Edition + Java EE gives you a nice and complete environment.

>t. FizzBuzz specialist who never worked on a actual commercial project ever

Will check it out, thanks.

Will also look into this, thank you.

I went with IntelliJ, would you recommend Eclipse over IntelliJ and why?

ok but only retards and normies would use ubuntu. if you want to have someone hold your hand to do everything then sure go ahead and use ubuntu or windows. again the bloated shit you're using in java could be done in C and faster.

>bloated
That's new to me. Everyone says that it's the other way around because it lacks all the syntactic sugar shit from C#.

you didn't read my post did you? The "bloat" is 300mb used instead of 3mb, id you don't work in embedded systems, who fucking cares?
Both are good. Work requires us to use eclipse since they have their own workspace files and addons but both are good editors. I never used intelliJ but I always heard good things about it. You should consider netbeans too as it is eclipse but MUCH more lightweight and fast, both are made by oracle too.

exactly Java is probably one of the best languages ever made, along with JS.

back to your ricing thread faggot

java is ghey and you shouldn't waste your time trying to learn it unless you live and breathe curry.

It pays the bills.
