OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is a beginner friendly distro, and has a nice GUI to do everything since I assume you're "too scared" of a terminal.

Install Windows sir

>so many choices
Just go with Debian, it's stable and open to be riced

I followed the Archwiki's installation guide and supplemented it with an youtube arch installation video (for wifi stuff)

1. Do you want a DE or a WM
2. Do you care about wayland?

>falling for the linux meme

someday you'll come to realize that all distros are equally shit, my man

just use xfce its fine and lightweight

i want to nakadashi komari-chan

Linux is a kernel

How come moeshit anime posters are always retarded? It's like they are too stupid to try out things themselves. Probably why they watch the same rehashed shit over and over again while pretending to be 12 year old girls on Jow Forums

>linux totally has all the applications and support that windows does!
>spend 5 days hunting down various dependencies and packages just so I can install the library i'm looking for
>just hit 3 buttons in windows
fuck it.

>pacman -S [gay porn of choice]

it just werks

>not always -Syu'ing

>implying
anyone who acts like they haven't had to go dependency hunting for hours over something stupid is filled with complete horseshit.

dependency hunting is literally just
>google error
>read "you need this package"
>install package
install original package
package
wow how hard.

>Just google it lol
And this is how you tell when someone has only ever had to download popular things

I did when I used fedora, but with arch I haven't

i use arch btw

specifically what has caused a multi-day dep hunt?
If it's not in the official repos, it's 99% likely to be in the AUR, and the AUR is automated to make and install things assuming you actually use a helper like a sane person.

...Why did you install Arch? In any case, I recommend Xfce, but make sure you know how to theme it otherwise it looks like shit.

Just install Devuan and shut the fuck up you stupid faggot.

If you're trying to install large programs from source it can get to be a gigantic headache, especially since often you need specific versions which aren't stated in their documentation so you just have to go with random shit until it works.

just doing an generic repo grab works for simple things, but if you need anything more customized its shit. Especially when you don't know what's missing until an hour into building and it throws an error.

i3-gaps without a desktop environment
trust me

yep, this is definitenly only a GNUL issue, and never ever happens on Windows.
And Windows doesn't ever, also add its own dep hell with needing certain updates, and updates depending on other updates.

Are you TRYING to make her go back to Windows?

It actually doesn't.

>her
Who the fuck are you trying to fool here man.

kill yourself.
Building on source on windows is a hell all its own.
What you're describing on linux is a mild pain but you have the power to solve it eventually. While on Windows some things are literally beyond your control.
dumb pajeet shill.

She certainly looks like a girl.

>Install program in windows
>plenty of options
>able to customize the install as I please with whatever functionality I want
>it just works

>install program on linux
>either have to use a premade package that loses customization and efficiency or build from source
>building from source is literal hell

>looks like a girl
You know who else does? Every trap hooker you will pick up in your area. No girl has ever used Jow Forums and no girl ever will.

No, all operating systems are shit, some are just less shit for a particular job.

>No girl has ever used Jow Forums and no girl ever will.
My older sister has been on Jow Forums since 2006 and on Jow Forums since 2012.

>>able to customize the install as I please with whatever functionality I want
>0.00003 rupees have been deposited in your good goy account!

Pics or fake, and I know you won't post pics, so fake.

It sounds like there might be something you don't know about your sister, user.

>o-oh no someone pointed out a flaw in linux
>better call them a shill!

Okay, change the windows borders of your windows to match the Mac OS classic, like picture related.

>Arch
Why can't weebs new to Linux choose a sane distro?

just stick with a debian based distro, preferably Ubuntu or Mint

Seriously this. If you're new to Linux, start with a distro that will hold your hand. The best ones for that are Ubuntu and Mint. Starting with Arch is like picking out a unicycle because you want to learn to ride something.

arch is sane though.
literally have never had a system-breaking bug or update.
and the only minor bleeding-edge bug i had was fixed by the time i found the github answer.

It's too fiddly for a noob. They'll twiddle with it for a few minutes and then go back to Windows. Ubuntu is easy enough to do most things on without any prior Linux experience and without looking anything up. Then when they've gotten used to the environment and are comfortable enough with occasional terminal use, they can experiment with Arch.

>It's too fiddly for a noob.
What does this even mean
You're more likely to break your system on Debian with an apt-get autoremove. Because apt is insanely stupid. I've done it before and had to manually reinstall my network stuff. And a Windows baby will trust the computer is always right. Whereas Pacman won't mark orphans unless it's actually an orphan.

How can iFags ever recover?

>"sister"

xfce

>not just `apk add`

You don't have to use package system or compile from source... However if you want to modify something, how the hell you do it properly without recompiling?

Never had this problem on linux.

I did that once, but I can't remember the name of the theme.

Are you scared you'll make the wrong choices? If so, you know you can change your mind. Making decisions for yourself is what adults do.

just install manjaro with KDE

Attached: 1453420043474.webm (853x480, 2.65M)

>edit /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist with the super up-to-date mirrorlist from pacman mirrorlist generator (mirror status option checked)
>sudo pacman -Syyu
im fresh as fuck now boys

Tried it.
>didn't detect my triple monitor setup
>couldn't decrypt my HDD anymore
I just switched back to Windows 10.

Why is she making that face?

Don't listen to him OP. If you want to be able to do all the shit you did on Windows but on a good OS (use proprietary software, paly gaymes), you'll need a Debian based system, namely Ubuntu. Just go with what works, get accustomed and then explore more with rpm distros or meme ones like arch/gentoo. You won't get into GNU/Linux otherwise.

You don't need a DE.
