Trying to get IP addresses through Discord / Gmod / ect

I've seen some video's where these guys get someones IP address and spook him. This made me interested in how i would set about doing this, the only problem is im stuck. the only IP's i can get are the host servers ip.
Is using Cain better for this, or am i just missing something with wireshark?

As expected, it's working as intended

In Discord and HL2-based servers all communication is done via the server, you won't see other user's IP.

If you are lucky some peer-to-peer communication is used for stuff like voice calls and video calling, but I doubt Discord use this, they know their audience.

Is this person just full of BS or is what he saying true then?

sounds like total BS to me

If discord is p2p, yes. If not, good luck trying to hack their servers

literally just use conventional methods:
find a site that grabs the ip of anyone who clicks on the link, masks it as a youtube video, throw it in a playx/mediaplayer in garrysmod, get people to watch it, get their ips/geolocations.

stop trying to be an 3p1c h4xx0r in videogames, retard

If it's client/server (and I suspect it is) you won't get other people's IP addresses, unless the implementation has a bug and leaks them.
BUT you can use other ways :) A common trick is to host content on a server you control and get people to click it. From the logs you can get their IP address. Use a URL shortener if you don't want them to suspect anything.

>Just casually scan 15k UDP ports for god knows how many IPs
>Somehow avoid false positives

steam was using STUN for voice calling for the longest time lol, you could easily grab IP from that

WTF would you want to do with a boring IP address?

Rich mad kids spent their parents money on ddosing services

True lol, but i'm just interested in it RN and wanted to see if it works. once i'm fixated on something i want to get it working.
Ip loggers work, but they are still avoidable ( just like wireshark if you have a vpn )

>Little Jimmy pisses u off in gaem
>scan
>rich daddy has IP cameras everywhere
>username: admin
>password: admin
>i'm in
>record Little Jimmy picking his nose and jerking off to horse porn
>anonimous email to rich daddy with screencaps demanding $10,000 in buttcoins or else u email the videos to every teacher in his school
hu3hu3hu3 fkn pwnd nothin personnel kid

Find a way into their pc and steal data

UDP search what? The kitchen microwave?

Someone's home computer isn't going to open 15K ports. If it is actually peer to peer you only need to get on a voice call and filter for traffic on those ports with Wireshark or tcpdump. If you don't see any traffic, pic is lying. If I wasn't on mobile I would check myself.

can't u just use netstat

>If you get in call with someone, they are able to locate your IP by a UDP port search with the range of 45000 - 60000.
1) He doesn't know how internet works.
>or
2) netstat all your local sockets in ports range 45000 - 60000 and some may be connected directly to host
Anyway, that guy is retarded for being so not specific.
