>YFW didn't fall for the SSD meme and have tons of storage at reasonable prices
>Meanwhile SSD cucks struggle with 500GB of storage or less at stupidly high prices
YFW didn't fall for the SSD meme and have tons of storage at reasonable prices
SSDs really aren’t that expensive anymore
Yes they are.
>SSDs really aren’t that expensive anymore
$150 for barely 1TB when the last Call of Duty is over 100GB...
Enjoy your data loss
Or you can buy a 250GB SSD for your OS and an HDD for storage...
What did the SSDrone mean by this?
Grandpa, for the fifteenth fucking time this year i'm telling you SSDs are boot drives meant to store OS and programs you use frequently that benefit from quick access times and transfer rates.
HDD is where your actual data goes.
Now take your medicine.
You don't buy SSDs to treat like traditional HDDs, and you don't buy large capacity SSDs either. You buy a small SSD to put your OS on; everything else like games, videos, images, etc. goes on regular HDDs.
>Seagate
>fail over temperature
>while my Toshiba running over 46°c
Seagate to the trash it goes
>Muh video games
Fuck off back to /v/eddit.
>Call of Duty
>PC
>Gayming on consoles
Fucking Zoomers
I somehow doubt anyone that claim their shit failed due to temperature. Most electronics are really good at protecting themselves from too hot temperatures, and will not die from temperatures alone in its lifetime (unless you actually stick it in an oven). Sure the Ironwolf series run a bit hotter than WD's Red series, but the temps are still well within specs. I think max temp is about 70C on those things, and mine sit around 50C. It is fairly common for higher RPM drives to run hotter too.
>Put OS on SSD
>Put data on HDD
??
>Profit
why the hell would you put games on your ssd? also get back to /v/
This.
It shouldn't be on PC, it should be in the trash.
I paid $40 for a 500GB SSD. and have three 1TB HDs in my pc as storage. the SSD is for fast booting and use of bulky software (Adobe Suite) why does it have to be one or the other?
Got both plus NAS running two pools of ZFS striped mirrors (pic related)
So YOUR the faggot we're waiting on in every fucking multiplayer game ever... Quit being a bitch and get a $200 SSD for your OS and applications
Recently I've started to take the money from the extra HDD, and just buy a larger SSD. I'll have to juggle data a bit more, but everything is so much more snappy and fun to use, since I don't have to leave some larger applications or games on the HDD anymore. Ofc. my file server is still using HDDs. Buying 24TB of SSDs for 12TB of storage just isn't cost effective for me. The file server is where I keep slow media like music and movies, + backups of my other computers.
>being a poorfag using spinning rust
>his storage makes noise
Is it safe to buy Seagate again?
that's what happens when you use cheap ssds
The alternatives are to get jewed by WD or roll the dice with Toshiba (so far all of mine have come up snake eyes, I don't get how people keep recommending Trashiba over Seagate).
Making a RAID1 backup do I want two identical drives (2x WD red) or two different drives (1x WD red 1x seagate ironwolf) of the same capacity?
bullshit, your pc/laptop probably has a shitty air flow
WOW, neck your self faggot
i put gaymes that have a lot of mods like skylines and sims in my ssd, and all other crap games in hdd
Say that to my 16TB of RAIDz2 storage.
>tfw you have an Intel X-25M SSD for your Linux installation and a RAIDz2 array with ECC RAM
Just put all your porn and music on the hard drive and save the space on the SSD for it. Why is that so hard?
>call of duty
Your opinion is trashed, discarded, thrashed and obliterated.
>programs you use frequently that benefit from quick access times and transfer rates.
what sort of programs do you deem worthy, or better make use of the speed?
Why not just wait till it's not beta? SSD's are at best alpha, they may fail tomorrow worldwide
>mfw 128gb ssd and 12tb raid10
SSD gets imaged to HDDs every 24 hours
HDDs get backed up to tape every two weeks
Can someone fucking explain to me why SMR hard drives (which were designed specifically to be used as a cheaper high-density backup alternative) cost the exact same as regular hard drives? What is this bullshit?
Why care about that when you can use tiered storage, lvmcache, or zfs l2arc
>games, videos, images, etc. goes on regular HDDs.
UMM NO SWEETY
GAME TEXTURES BENEFIT HUGE FROM SSD
VIDEO EDITING, IMAGE EDITING YOU WANT THAT ALL ON SSD, MUCH SNAPPIER WORKFLOW
HDD IS JUST FOR SLOW MASS STORAGE, BACKUPS
5400rpm hdd
And yes overflow is shit in my old laptop
But what's your point ???
How my toshiba hdd holding its shit together even after those 3 years ???
Without even 1 bad sector ???
>14TB Seagate
LOOOOOOOOL
>heh, that's a lot of data you've got there
*clicks*
>it would be such a shame if something happened to it
t. boomer and/or zoomer
this
this
Is that ryzem shit for using hdd and ssd any good?
I got a 120 GB SSD for 20 € recently... Though I would only use it as a bootdrive in a lowend rig.
Why not use both, I use NVMe drives for boot, SATA SSDs for programs and games, HDDs for my movies and files. I hope a 20 TB is coming soon so I can move all my movies onto one drive.
This. I only have a 120gb sata for important shit and OS and my 2tb hdd takes care of all the rest.
why not both
I've had a barracuda fail on me today, might've been a faulty model or something but I've still never had an SSD die on me
HDD price per GB just keeps going up.
>quantity over quality, bitches.
CAPS LOCK REALLY MAKES MY POINT STAND OUT IT DOESN'T MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A FUCKTARD AT ALL, NO
I have a 4tb 7200rpm Toshiba
1tb samsung sata ssd
256gb samsung nvme
Honestly dont notice the difference for most things. I'm definitely glad I got the Toshiba as I can hoard data. Filled my ssds so damn fast. They're still expensive when compared to hdd.
how about bouth you stupid fuk
>my level 6 cache is bigger than you're level 5 cache
WOOOOW
