Try USB-C

>USB 3.0
>Not USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps

KILL YOURSELF FAGGOT OP

I have it on my laptop but no other devices support it so it sucks

Um sweaty, usbee-cee is a connection type, not a standard hmm

>sweaty
This never gets old

>not using USB 3.1 Type C Gen 2
wtf

link to your blog

nice screenshot, fag

why so slow user?

>multiple files vs one large file
>sequential vs non-sequential writing
this your first troll or something?

what? is OP actually moving several files at the same time? should there be several dialogs then for each file?

>didn't look at OP picture
he's obviously copy and pasting from a local directory to the external storage medium

>not swallowing a handful of sdcard and shitting into your hdmi port

then its sequential, he copies one file then the next one

not sure if troll or serious

Unhygienic amateur hobbyist basement-dwelling neckbeard code vs professional code.

tfw not a USB poverty user and my files copy so fast the dialog box doesn't have time to come up

r u fuckin retarded dude?
>6,959 separate dialogs

its the same fucking thing retards

Superthumbsticks

>the dialog box doesn't have time to come up
must be lagdroid

>plebians untouched by the power of IEEE 1394
poor devils

You're on unix, dude. Rsync dat shit mang

kyle?

Wow, your screenshot looks different depending on the amount I've zoomed in on to it.

yeah sure, he is copying 6959 files at the same time and getting 118MB speed

yep, thats whats happening. whats your issue?

No fuck off you cunt

what speed is that, USB 3.1? looks only marginally faster to OPs

Forgot pic

>moving stuff over USB
>not just sending through LAN
you plebeians are disgusting

Attached: Screenshot_20181015-213912.png (720x588, 906K)

because thats not whats happening. OP selected a bunch of files to copy, the OS is copying each file sequentially , it is not copying all of them simultaneously

Being this bad at computer.

>pendrives have lan
uh oh

would not matter for me since write speed to my hdd is about 6mb/s

there would be no point, i'm not syncing anything, just moving a directory over

your scaler is shit
phoneposter?

Yeah, on Clover

im still with usb 1.0

are you russian or indian

>he fell for the retrocomputing meme

>we could have had FireWire 400 since the 90s and FireWire 800 since 03 had things played out differently.

Poverty tier data transfer speeds for 15 years when better solutions were available. Why?

oh wow, linux has usb 3.0 drivers?
impressive!

2012 called, they said to check out the new USB 3.0

I hope you seen that series

not him but the 1st episode sucked so badly that it put me off
its a BSG tryhard

I thought that till I watched 2nd episode, a lot of shit will click together.

is that supposed to be impressive?

One thing I noticed is when I'm moving several small files it takes much longer than a single large file.
I don't know what's the technicality behind this, or if it has more to do with my HD's speed, but if for example I am moving hundreds of photos from my laptop to my external HD via USB 3.0 the speed is quite slow. Yet when doing the same to a large movie it will be extremely fast.

yeah, I read the books, the last one was really slow

expanse is nothing like bsg

I haven't read the book but I agree it's nothing like BSG. Both do look at shit from every angle though which is something I really liked

can you at least mention the hardware involved?

no

its to do with how the files are allocated to disk

So is there a way to make this process faster or will we always be stuck with low speeds when moving several small files?

use a decent filesystem (ext4 and nowadays f2fs is getting more viable and relevant) i guess and use ssd. ssd works totally different with file access. in my OP image it was going from a USB-connected SSD (in a caddy) to a SSD drive. Neither are very state of the art but still very fast.

u r not smart

ur eisntein

Idk why but I lost it here bwahahabahaba

ur a cunt then

>pendrive
shiggy

DIVERSITY HIRES

>USB 3.0 feels so liberating after 2.0
>only goes twice as fast as USB 2.0

Apple and Sony went full jewish on the price of controllers, and by then there wasn't any justification to have high speed data transfer, since almost all shit was done with floppies and CDs.
When flash memory began to massify in the form of USB sticks it was late.

You'd be hard pressed to get more than 25MB/s out of USB 2.0.

Thanks CPU overhead.
>inb4 but muh evil maid attacks

mechanical hdd over usb 2.0

>You'd be hard pressed to get more than 25MB/s out of USB 2.0.
I got 52MB/s on USB 2.0 when I was backing up my shit.
