What's the middle ground between proprietary and open source?

What's the middle ground between proprietary and open source?

free for personal non comercial use

Creating the code for yourself and closing it
Or auditing the open source, fork it make changes and close it for personal use

Stop saying "open source", you retarded corporate whore.

foss proprietary
right wrong
good evil
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Every other file being open source

I like this

A) piracy - no cost still proprietary
B) expensive, custom support contract - you can request changes, ask the code to be customized, but it will never be yours

stealing

I think shared source, like Microsoft does where you can see the source but its not free to use or distribute.

Kinda what I was going for with B

There is no middle ground.
You're either in the botnet or you're not.

Doesn't exist. Either use open source software or you might as well just not use a PC at all.

Open core

>foss
>not floss

I don't like it, it makes my gums bleed

Open source that you buy

"free" software with patent bombs and binary blobs, Linux is a prime example of it.

>floss

dumb zoomer
