8-cores || 4.7ghz base , 5.0ghz boost • You need a high end cooler to keep it under 90c • Will insta-fry any low end motherboard • Terrible price per perfomance

No such thing as low end mobo since I'm quite sure that Intel will lock the 9900K(elvin) to z390 exclusively. otherwise on point
James Johnson
They released an 1800x with an igpu. >$500 >8/16 threads >16pcie lanes >marketed for games >will probably change to "content creation" It's shit. Virtually the same marketing, and msrp as the 1800x during launch.
It's the final breath of 14nm, moar coars and moar hurtz
Nicholas Morales
you do realize that a 10nm chip would be even hotter because there is less surface area to cool, right?
Joshua Thomas
Are people really this dumb?

What motherboard did they use? Gigabyte is known to cheap out on VRMs
Jonathan Taylor
No matter how anyone wants to spin it, it has 4 modules with two integer units in it and one FPU per module
Maybe on those chinky intel boards that give no price to performance, the Gigabyte 990FX boards post 9590 release had an amazing VRM because they had to
Liam Taylor
you're the retard here kiddo, learn the basics of thermodynamics and grasp that a 95W chip on 14nm vs a 95W chip on 10nm, will be harder to cool. plus 95W is a very loose estimate of the actual power consumption of these CPU's, in reality its much higher. smaller surface area = same heat generation but less dissipation.
Jack Cooper
Intel doesn't make motherboards anymore and yeah ok boomer, muh good old times when communism still existed
Dylan Davis
Jesus someone post the die size diagram.
Jaxon Morales
I mean the chinky gigabyte intel boards, you look at a Z series chipset that isn't terribly expensive, the VRM is garbage
Hudson Rogers
really depends on the motherboard. Their lower end boards are shit, high end are very good. price/performance will be asrock and msi
wait, that cpu can run at 100C? It could be cooled by keeping a bowl of water on it. In principle it would be possible to have an intel-powered tea kettle that makes tea from heat generated during gaming
James Smith
>play some Call of Battlefield: Halo destiny >after intense round take bowl of water off the CPU and make some tea sounds comfy as fuck. How can AMD even compete?
Angel Kelly
CPUs are a triangle of Performance, Core count and Power Consumption
You can't have the first 2 without the third one.
The 9900K is just that, High clock, High core count, High power consumption
The FX-9590 on the other hand had bad performance while consuming a lot of power, and also being a "fake" 8 core.
Now shoo shoo poo, shitposting here won't increase your AMD stock and get you out of the slums
Joshua Miller
can i simply be happy with my choice without people who get mad over it?
Justin Lee
Custom water cooling as in a loop or those shit AIO? I have a loop with a 480 rad and 120 rad, there no way a 9900k would run 90C when OC.
