Is that Windows? Blurry af.

Looks sharp to me.

Horrible. Apply yourself.

We need to go bolder

>tfw you discover there are no real standards for rendering fonts across platforms

This applies to you as well.

Kozuka Gothic Pr6N for Sans and Charis SIL for Serif or bust.

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-10-17 at 09.34.50-fullpage.png (1686x2000, 1.29M)

What if we had a standard then?

Do you even try

Attached: 2018-10-17-174243_1919x988_scrot.png (1919x988, 582K)

looks great. how do I achieve this on leenucks?

autism

I installed freetype2-ultimate5 from AUR.
It gives a fonts a bit of weight compared to default freetype2 rendering
Also I've set in fonts.conf
rgba to rgb
lcdfilter to lcddefault
hintiing to true
hitstyle to hintslight
autohint to false
and dpi to 96
but that's pretty standard

Then we wouldn't have these retarded "my OS renders better fonts than yours" threads.

I forget, antialias to true and default fonts to Noto family

maybe not as nice, but here's my setup:

debian
XFCE
ACER cheapass 1920 x 1080 monitor
graphics onboard Gigabyte mobo78lmt-usb3 r2 (el-cheapo)
firefox font default dejavu serif size 16

Attached: Screenshot_2018-10-17_11-51-03.png (1920x1080, 583K)

looks like shit senpai

As for me Calculate Linux (gentoo for lazy people)
XFCE
As I said, Kozuka Gothic Pr6N and Charis SIL
Palemoon.

thx. going to kill myself now.

actually I probably would an hero if I had to use chromium as in pic related. It's so bad I haven't even tried to fix it.

Gentoo with Infinality, lcdfilter default, rgb subpixel, and slight hinting.
Something still seems off..?

Alright fontfags, can someone explain to me what's the difference between all those serif, sans, sans serif and monospace fonts? I always just select the ones that look good by trying fonts one after another. Maybe it's finally the time to ascend.
Some Noto family fonts chosen purely by looks, size 16. 1440p display.

BTW, some websites look crappy with 16px font (elements overlapping text). How do I prevent that from happening? I'm not going any lower as the font size is perfect now.

Attached: 1509461598901.png (1280x1400, 579K)

>monospace

you can see the monospace effect if you use tabs or spaces to create columns. with monospace they stay aligned, but with proportional or whatever, they can get really messed up, and usually do, because an "I" is much more narrow than a "W", for example.

>all these rainbows and smear

Attached: 1536334208538.png (600x595, 600K)

literally the worst in the thread, what the fuck

Am I doing something wrong with my font config or does white text on dark backgrounds always look like shit?

Looks great but Heuristica is balls, just use Liberation Serif as your default
Noto is shit but the rendering settings look fine
Yes, we can tell. At least get a CJK font
Bold blurry shit
See above
Turn hintslight on.
>Something still seems off..?
Yeah, you're using Noto

maybe is your monitor

Tried 2 different ones, a TN and an IPS and it's the same

Can (You) guess which operative system I use, Jow Forums? ^.^

>Yeah, you're using Noto
Switched to Liberation Sans, somehow it doesn't seem much better... idk

this is the power of MICROSOFT WINDOWS 10

>i don't know what subpixel rendiring is
>RGB means nothing to me but gaymen accessories

Attached: 1509758471593.png (617x347, 55K)

look at the fucking letters. There's like no black. Look at the "i" in "this" and you will see that the fucking letter itself is dark blue whereas it should be black

fuck RGB rendering

monochrome like Android and MacOS when???????????????????????????????????

Reminder that because of subpixel rendering comparing screenshots of font rendering is useless.

Reminder that everyone uses RGB anyway

>subpixel rendering

more like dompixel rendering. I thought Wangblows 10 was supposed to have black letters. Instead we got purple fucking letters

You can adjust it, here is Windows 7: Btw, that guy, sowwy, you lost. Sorry.

Redpill me, how do I fix windows 10 font rendering?

Blurry ass shit fonts on this thread.

Attached: Annotatio1n (3).png (1901x968, 494K)

What of it, retard? You can't tell from a distance on any modern monitor regardless.

And you can set it to monochrome you fuckin idiot

droiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid

Attached: 1539799336.png (1710x856, 391K)

HOW DO I FIX THIS

Attached: unClearType.png (1584x969, 370K)

You can't, really. Due to the way that Windows handles fonts you can't really alias in superior alternatives either. Mactype (really just a freetype port without any of the good parts of it) is kind of a meme and from what I know it doesn't really work well with modern browsers anymore anyway

>monochrome like Android and MacOS when???????????????????????????????????
Since forever on linux.

start by killing yourself for using such shitty OS

>empty useless bookmarks bar
>no chink glyphs installed
>not using kernelex and newer firefox

what a chad

>empty useless bookmarks bar
Can't be removed.
>no chink glyphs installed
Not wasting my time with that.
>not using kernelex and newer firefox
Already tried and it runs like shit, it eats all the RAM with just one tab and stutters like hell. This is the last Windows 9x Firefox build and works fine without JS, so I don't really care.

>Can't be removed.
Right click and untick bookmarks bar
>Not wasting my time with that.
Should have done it when you installed windows

>Right click and untick bookmarks bar
Thanks, I was trying that on the bookmark bar, but for some reason it only appears when you right click the navigation bar.
>Should have done it when you installed windows
I installed everything that came with the CD, looks like it didn't have any moonrunes.

Attached: Clipboard02.png (1024x768, 33K)

How good is my font rendering?

Attached: 2018-10-17→23:00:07.png (1366x768, 398K)

>white eye cancer

You're doing it wrong, user.

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-10-18 00-02-46.png (1970x1070, 771K)

how?

Stylus extension for Chrome/Firefox.

Attached: 155432.png (3809x2027, 1.59M)

Looks fine. Noto sucks, though.

They all look the same you pretentious faggots.

Is this Jow Forums's version of "144 fps vs 120 fps"? There is literally no difference between any of the fonts in this thread.

didn't stylus sell out and become spyware?

What is Jow Forums's pick over Noto? Monospace Noto looks good enough for terminals. Sans Noto looks bad everywhere.

go back

That's Stylish, Stylus is the botnet free version.

For just sans? I use Liberation Sans. Aside from the J it's perfect and metric compatible.

I like Noto for every language that isn't English incidentally. Their CJK font is top tier.

i have a 2560x1600 monitor but weirdness with Wayland makes my screenshots low-res

also you're all cucks. the true test of font rendering is an emoji test page:

>hurr my giant display resolution means I have better font rendering than yours
>hurr my font blurring means I have better rendering than yours

Just use a bitmap font, retards.
